1. Introduction
This user manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of the Connects2 CTSVX002.2 Steering Wheel Control Interface. This interface is designed to retain the functionality of your vehicle's factory steering wheel controls when upgrading to an aftermarket head unit.
Please read this manual thoroughly before beginning installation to ensure proper setup and to avoid damage to your vehicle or the product.
2. Product Overview
The Connects2 CTSVX002.2 is a specialized interface that allows seamless integration of an aftermarket car stereo with your vehicle's existing steering wheel controls. It translates the vehicle's CAN-Bus signals into commands recognizable by the new head unit, preserving convenience and safety features.

Note: Compatibility may vary based on specific vehicle trim levels and factory options. Always consult with a professional installer if unsure.
5. Installation Guide
Before you begin: Disconnect the vehicle's negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts. Ensure you have all necessary tools, including trim removal tools, screwdrivers, and wire crimpers/strippers if required.
5.1. Preparation
- Carefully remove the factory head unit from the dashboard using appropriate trim removal tools.
- Disconnect all wiring harnesses from the rear of the factory head unit.
5.2. Wiring the Interface
Connect the Connects2 CTSVX002.2 interface as follows:
- Vehicle Harness Connection: Connect the vehicle-specific connector from the CTSVX002.2 harness to the corresponding factory wiring harness in the vehicle's dashboard.
- Aftermarket Head Unit Connection: Connect the patch lead from the CTSVX002.2 interface to the steering wheel control input on your aftermarket head unit. Refer to your aftermarket head unit's manual for the exact location of this input (often labeled SWC, Remote, or Key1/Key2).
- Power and Speaker Connections: Connect the remaining power (constant 12V, ignition 12V, ground) and speaker wires from the CTSVX002.2 harness to your aftermarket head unit's corresponding inputs. Ensure all connections are secure and properly insulated.
5.3. Testing and Reassembly
- Reconnect the vehicle's negative battery terminal.
- Turn on the vehicle's ignition and the aftermarket head unit.
- Test all steering wheel control functions (volume up/down, track skip, mode, phone controls, etc.) to ensure they operate correctly with the new head unit.
- If all functions are working, carefully reassemble the dashboard and secure the aftermarket head unit in place.
Important: If steering wheel controls do not function, refer to the Troubleshooting section or consult a professional installer.
6. Operation
Once installed, the Connects2 CTSVX002.2 interface operates automatically. Your factory steering wheel controls will now send commands to your aftermarket head unit. The specific functions available will depend on your vehicle's original steering wheel controls and the capabilities of your aftermarket head unit.
- Volume Control: Use the volume up/down buttons on your steering wheel to adjust the audio level.
- Track/Station Control: Use the track skip or seek buttons to change tracks (for media playback) or radio stations.
- Mode/Source: The mode button typically cycles through audio sources (Radio, USB, Bluetooth, etc.).
- Phone Controls: If your vehicle has phone controls on the steering wheel, these may be mapped to answer/end call functions on compatible head units.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Steering wheel controls do not work. | Incorrect wiring connections. Incorrect patch lead for head unit. Head unit not configured for SWC. | Double-check all wiring connections, ensuring they are secure and correctly matched. Verify the patch lead is compatible with your aftermarket head unit. Access your head unit's settings menu and ensure steering wheel control input is enabled and correctly configured (e.g., "Key Learning" function). |
| Only some steering wheel controls work. | Partial wiring issue. Head unit mapping limitations. | Inspect wiring for loose connections or damaged wires. Some aftermarket head units may not support all factory steering wheel functions. Consult your head unit's manual. |
| Interface module gets hot. | Overload or short circuit. | Immediately disconnect power. Re-check all wiring for shorts. If the issue persists, the module may be faulty. |
| No power to head unit after installation. | Incorrect power wiring. Blown fuse. | Verify constant 12V and ignition 12V connections. Check vehicle's fuse box and the head unit's inline fuse for any blown fuses. |
