Operating Instructions

1. Network Cable Tester

Image: Diagram illustrating cable tester connections for RJ45 and RJ11 cables.

  1. Slide the power switch on the Master unit to 'ON'. The power light will flash ('S' for slow speed test).
  2. Connect one end of the communication cable to the Master tester and the other end to the Remote tester.
  3. Observe the LEDs: They will light in sequence 1-G (GND/Shield) on the Master tester. Verify that the corresponding LEDs light up on the Remote unit according to your wiring configuration.

LED Indications:

  • Short Circuit: Indicated by no LEDs lighting on the remote unit.
  • Open Wire/Short: Indicated by no LEDs lighting on both the Master and Remote units.
  • Wrong Order: LEDs light up in an incorrect sequence (e.g., Pin 1, Pin 2, Pin 4, Pin 3, Pin 5).
  • Crossed Connection: If Pin 6, Pin 7, Pin 8 light up, it indicates a crossed connection if Pin 3 and 4 are also lit.

2. Crimping Tool

Use the crimping tool to attach RJ45, RJ11, or other compatible connectors to network or telephone cables.

  1. Prepare the cable by stripping the outer jacket to expose the individual wires.
  2. Arrange the wires according to the desired wiring standard (e.g., T568A or T568B for RJ45).
  3. Insert the arranged wires into the connector, ensuring they reach the end of the connector.
  4. Place the connector with the cable into the appropriate slot on the crimping tool.
  5. Squeeze the handles firmly until the connector is fully crimped and secured.

3. Krone Punch Down Tool

This tool is used for terminating wires into patch panels or wall jacks.

  1. Place the wire into the terminal slot on the patch panel or jack.
  2. Position the punch down tool over the wire and terminal.
  3. Apply firm, even pressure to the tool. It will push the wire into the terminal and trim any excess wire.
  4. Use the built-in wire hooks to remove wires if necessary.

4. Coaxial Cable Stripper

For stripping RG59 and RG58 coaxial cables.

  1. Select the correct interchangeable head for your cable type (RG59 or RG58).
  2. Adjust the blades for the desired stripping depth if needed.
  3. Insert the coaxial cable into the stripper and rotate it around the cable several times.
  4. Remove the stripped sections of the cable jacket and dielectric.

5. Universal Stripper

This tool is designed for general wire stripping tasks.

  1. Identify the appropriate notch or blade setting for the gauge of wire you are stripping.
  2. Place the wire into the stripper.
  3. Squeeze the handles and pull the stripper away from the wire to remove the insulation.

6. Screwdrivers

The kit includes both slotted and Phillips head screwdrivers for general use, such as opening equipment casings or securing panels.

  • Select the correct screwdriver tip (slotted or Phillips) that matches the screw head.
  • Apply appropriate pressure and turn to loosen or tighten screws.

Maintenance

General Cleaning:

To clean the tools and case, wipe them with a damp cloth and a mild detergent. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these may damage the materials.

Network Cable Tester Battery Replacement:

The cable tester is powered by a single standard or alkaline 9V battery. Replace the battery if the power LED does not light when the unit is switched on.

  1. Disconnect any cables from the tester.
  2. Open the battery cover on the Master unit.
  3. Carefully remove the old battery and replace it with a new 9V battery.
  4. Reinsert the battery into the compartment, ensuring the leads are not pinched.
  5. Securely reinstall the battery cover.

Troubleshooting

Cable Tester Issues:

  • No Power Light: Check and replace the 9V battery in the Master unit.
  • Incorrect LED Sequence: Indicates a wiring fault (e.g., wrong order, short, open circuit, or crossed connection). Refer to the 'LED Indications' section under Operating Instructions for specific fault identification.
  • No LEDs on Remote: Could indicate a short circuit or an open wire/short.
  • Inaccurate RJ11 Test: Ensure only RJ11 jacks are used for RJ11 cables.

For other tool-related issues, ensure proper technique and inspect the tool for any visible damage. If a tool is damaged, discontinue use and consider replacement.
