3. Setup Instructions

Setting up your ScreenBeam MoCA Network Adapter Kit is a straightforward process. Follow the steps below based on your gateway configuration.

3.1. Scenario A: Gateway WITH Coax Port

  1. Disconnect the existing coaxial cable from your gateway.
  2. Connect that cable to the splitter's 'IN' port.
  3. Attach one new coax cable from the splitter to your gateway's coax port.
  4. Attach another new coax cable from the splitter to the adapter's 'Coax In' port.
  5. Plug an Ethernet cable from the adapter into an available LAN port on your gateway.
  6. Connect the power adapter to the MoCA adapter and plug it into a power outlet.
  7. Wait for the green Power and Coax lights on the adapter to turn solid.

3.2. Scenario B: Gateway WITHOUT Coax Port

  1. Connect the Ethernet cable from the first MoCA adapter to an available LAN port on your gateway.
  2. Connect the adapter's coax port directly to a wall coax outlet using a coax cable.
  3. Connect the power adapter to the MoCA adapter and plug it into a power outlet.
  4. Wait for the green Power and Coax lights on the adapter to turn solid.

3.3. Expanding Internet to Another Room

To extend your wired internet connection to another room:

  1. Bring the second adapter to the room where you need Internet access.
  2. Connect a coax cable from the wall outlet to the adapter's 'Coax In' port.
  3. Connect the power adapter to the MoCA adapter and plug it into a power outlet.
  4. Wait for the green Power and Coax lights to turn solid.
  5. Then, connect your device (e.g., computer, gaming console) to the adapter using an Ethernet cable.

4. Operating Instructions

Once the adapters are set up and the Power and Coax lights are solid green, your MoCA network is active. The adapters function as a bridge, converting Ethernet signals to MoCA signals over your coaxial cables and vice-versa. This allows any Ethernet-enabled device connected to an adapter to access your network and the internet.

4.1. Key Features and Benefits

  • High-Speed Internet: Delivers speeds up to 1 Gbps, ideal for 4K streaming, online gaming, and remote work.
  • Reliable Connection: Uses existing coax cables for a stable wired connection, reducing Wi-Fi dead spots and dropouts.
  • Easy Setup: Plug-and-play functionality with minimal configuration required.
  • Network Expansion: Supports up to 16 MoCA nodes on one network, allowing you to expand wired access throughout your home.

5. Compatibility

The ECB6200 MoCA adapters are designed for broad compatibility with most home networking equipment.

5.1. Compatible Systems

  • Practically any device with an Ethernet port (e.g., computers, gaming consoles, streaming media devices).
  • Wi-Fi Access Points.
  • Most routers with an Ethernet port (including most FiOS routers).
  • Existing coaxial cable infrastructure in your home.

5.2. Non-Compatible Systems

These MoCA adapters are not compatible with the following services or equipment:

  • Direct TV, Dish, or other satellite TV services.
  • AT&T Internet or AT&T U-verse coax networks.
  • Some DOCSIS 3.1 modems may experience conflicts due to frequency overlap, potentially causing random disconnects. Consult your Internet Service Provider (ISP) for a fix if this occurs.
  • ECB6200, ECB6250, and ECB7250 models are not cross-compatible with each other.

Incompatible services include Satellite TV, Dish, DirectTV, AT&T U-verse, and other ScreenBeam ECB models (ECB6250s, ECB7250s).

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your ScreenBeam MoCA Network Adapter Kit, refer to the following troubleshooting tips:

6.1. No Coax Light?

  • Try connecting to a different coax outlet, possibly one in the same room as your existing gateway.
  • Use a different coax cable to rule out cable issues.
  • If using a splitter, try removing it temporarily to see if the connection is established.
  • Ensure all splitters meet the correct MoCA requirements.
  • Verify all cables are securely connected to their respective ports.

6.2. No Internet Connection?

  • If both the Power and Coax lights are lit on all your ECB devices, your adapters are likely working correctly. The issue may lie with your device or gateway.
  • Check the current firmware version for your ECB. Ensure it is up to date.

6.3. Intermittent Connectivity During Adapter Setup?

  • This could indicate a signal issue. You may need to contact your ISP to ensure there is no interference (> 1002MHz) coming from the DOCSIS signal of your cable service.
  • Ensure all coax connections are hand-tight on all MoCA devices, including your gateway.
  • Verify you have a PoE (Point-of-Entry) 1002MHz low-pass filter on the coax line coming into your home. This prevents MoCA signals from leaving your home network and interfering with neighbors.
  • Ensure your MoCA devices are all on the most recent firmware.
  • Confirm there are no failing amplifiers connected to the coax.
  • Ensure there are no TV amplifiers between separate MoCA nodes.
