Setup and Initial Charging

Before first use, it is recommended to fully charge the emergency lamp.

1. Ensure the lamp's switch (5) is in the 'Off' position.
2. Open the protective cover (6) for the power connectors.
3. Connect the provided power cord to the AC Power Input Connector (7) on the lamp.
4. Plug the other end of the power cord into a standard 127V AC wall outlet.
5. The Charge Indicator (2) will illuminate, indicating that the lamp is charging.
6. Allow the lamp to charge for approximately 20-24 hours for the initial charge to ensure optimal battery performance.
7. Once fully charged, unplug the power cord and close the protective cover.

The lamp is designed for easy installation and can be placed on a flat surface or hung using its handle.

Operating Instructions

Your Sharper Image Emergency Lamp offers versatile operation modes:

Manual Operation

• To turn the lamp ON at High Intensity, slide the switch (5) to the 'High' position. The lamp will provide approximately 7 hours of light.
• To turn the lamp ON at Low Intensity, slide the switch (5) to the 'Low' position. The lamp will provide approximately 14 hours of light.
• To turn the lamp OFF, slide the switch (5) to the 'Off' (middle) position.

Automatic Emergency Function

The lamp is designed to automatically activate during a power outage when connected to an AC power source and the switch is in either the 'High' or 'Low' position.

1. Connect the lamp to a 127V AC wall outlet using the provided power cord.
2. Slide the switch (5) to either the 'High' or 'Low' position.
3. The lamp will remain off while AC power is present (and charging if needed).
4. In the event of a power failure, the lamp will automatically turn on at the selected intensity.
5. When AC power is restored, the lamp will automatically turn off and resume charging.

Charging and Battery Care

The emergency lamp features an integrated rechargeable battery. Proper charging and care will extend its lifespan.

• Regular Charging: For optimal battery health, keep the lamp plugged into an AC outlet when not in use, especially if you intend to use its automatic emergency function.
• Charge Indicator: The indicator light (2) will show when the lamp is receiving power and charging.
• Long-Term Storage: If storing the lamp for an extended period (more than 3 months), fully charge it every 3 months to prevent battery degradation.
• Battery Replacement: The battery is integrated and not user-replaceable. Do not attempt to open the unit.

Maintenance

To keep your emergency lamp in optimal condition:

• Cleaning: Wipe the lamp's exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
• Storage: Store the lamp in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your emergency lamp, try the following:

• Lamp does not turn on:
  • Ensure the battery is charged. Plug it into an AC outlet and allow it to charge for several hours.
  • Check if the power cord is securely connected to both the lamp and the wall outlet.
  • Verify that the wall outlet is functioning by plugging in another device.
  • Ensure the switch is in the 'High' or 'Low' position for manual or automatic operation.
• Lamp does not turn on automatically during power outage:
  • Confirm the lamp is plugged into a live AC outlet.
  • Ensure the switch is set to either 'High' or 'Low' (not 'Off').
  • The battery might be completely depleted. Allow it to charge for a full cycle.
• Short illumination time:
  • The battery may not be fully charged. Ensure it has been charged for the recommended duration.
  • Battery capacity may have diminished over time. Ensure regular charging as per maintenance guidelines.
