The system features a top-loading turntable, a front-loading CD player, a cassette deck, and an AM/FM radio tuner. 5. Setup
5.1 Unpacking and Placement
- Remove all packaging materials from the unit.
- Place the unit on a stable, level surface away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and excessive dust or moisture.
- Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit.
5.2 Power Connection
Connect the AC power cord to a standard wall outlet. The unit operates on AC power.
5.3 Connecting External Speakers (Optional)
If you wish to connect external speakers, use RCA audio cables (not included) to connect the RCA audio out jacks on the rear of the CD684A to the audio input jacks on your external amplifier or powered speakers.
6. Operating Instructions
6.1 Turntable Operation
- Lift the dust cover.
- Place a record on the turntable platter.
- Select the appropriate speed (33, 45, or 78 RPM) using the speed selector switch. For 45 RPM records, place the included 45 RPM adapter on the spindle.
- Move the tone arm to the desired position on the record. Use the tone arm cueing lever to gently lower the stylus onto the record.
- The turntable features an auto-stop function, which will stop the platter from spinning once the record reaches its end.
6.2 CD Player Operation
- Press the CD/AUX button to select CD mode.
- Press the OPEN/CLOSE button to open the CD tray.
- Place a CD with the label side facing up into the tray.
- Press the OPEN/CLOSE button again to close the tray. The CD will begin playing automatically.
- Use the SKIP/SEARCH buttons to navigate between tracks. The CD player supports 20-track programming.
6.3 Cassette Player Operation
- Press the TAPE button to select Cassette mode.
- Insert a cassette tape into the cassette deck slot.
- Use the PLAY, STOP, FAST FORWARD, and REWIND buttons to control playback.
6.4 AM/FM Radio Operation
- Press the RADIO button to select Radio mode.
- Select either AM or FM band using the band selector switch.
- Rotate the TUNING knob to tune into your desired radio station.
6.5 Auxiliary Input (AUX IN)
- Connect an external audio device (e.g., MP3 player, smartphone) to the 3.5mm AUX IN jack on the front panel using a 3.5mm audio cable (not included).
- Press the CD/AUX button to select AUX mode.
- Audio from your external device will now play through the system's speakers. Control playback from your external device.
7. Maintenance
7.1 Cleaning the Unit
- Always unplug the unit from the power outlet before cleaning.
- Wipe the exterior of the unit with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents.
- Keep the dust cover closed when the turntable is not in use to prevent dust accumulation.
7.2 Stylus Replacement
The stylus (needle) is a delicate component and will wear out over time. A worn stylus can damage your records and degrade sound quality. Replace the stylus after approximately 500 hours of use or if you notice a decrease in sound quality.
- Gently pull the old stylus down and away from the tone arm cartridge.
- Carefully insert the new stylus (two extra diamond stylus tips are included) by pushing it up into the cartridge until it clicks into place.
- Avoid touching the stylus tip with your fingers.
