Setup
1. Battery Installation
- Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the unit.
- Slide or lift the cover to open the compartment.
- Insert two (2) "AA" size batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
- Replace the battery compartment cover securely.
2. Microcassette Insertion
- Press the STOP/EJECT button to open the cassette compartment.
- Gently insert a microcassette tape with the open side facing the recording head.
- Close the cassette compartment cover until it clicks into place.
Operating Instructions
Recording
- Ensure a microcassette is inserted and batteries are installed.
- Press the RECORD button (usually red). The unit will automatically begin recording.
- Speak clearly into the built-in microphone.
- To stop recording, press the STOP/EJECT button.
Playback
- Press the PLAY button. Audio from the microcassette will begin playing.
- Use the QUICK REVIEW function by pressing and holding the REWIND button during playback to quickly scan backward through the audio. Release to resume normal playback.
- Use the CUE function by pressing and holding the FAST FORWARD button during playback to quickly scan forward through the audio. Release to resume normal playback.
- To stop playback, press the STOP/EJECT button.
2-Speed Operation
The Sanyo M5445 offers two recording/playback speeds to suit your needs:
- Normal Speed: Provides standard audio quality and tape usage.
- Slow Speed: Doubles the recording time on a single microcassette, useful for extended dictation or lectures, though audio quality may be slightly reduced.
To switch between speeds, locate the SPEED switch (often labeled 1.2/2.4 or similar) on the unit and slide it to your desired setting.
