4. Setup

4.1 Attaching the Antenna

1. Align the antenna connector with the antenna port on top of the radio.
2. Gently screw the antenna clockwise until it is finger-tight. Do not overtighten.

4.2 Charging the Battery

The IC-M25 21 features convenient USB charging.

1. Locate the USB charging port on the side of the radio.
2. Open the rubber cover protecting the USB port.
3. Connect the supplied USB charging cable to the radio's USB port.
4. Connect the other end of the USB cable to a 5V USB power source (e.g., a USB wall adapter, computer USB port, or portable power bank).
5. The charging indicator on the radio will illuminate. Charging typically takes approximately 3 hours for a full charge.
6. Once fully charged, disconnect the USB cable and securely close the rubber cover to maintain water resistance.

4.3 Attaching the Belt Clip

1. Align the belt clip with the two screw holes on the back of the radio.
2. Secure the belt clip using the provided screws. Do not overtighten.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Power On/Off

• To turn on: Press and hold the POWER button until the display illuminates.
• To turn off: Press and hold the POWER button until the display turns off.

5.2 Adjusting Volume

Press the VOL/SQL button, then use the UP/DOWN arrow keys to adjust the volume level. Press VOL/SQL again to confirm or wait for the setting to time out.

5.3 Selecting Channels

Use the UP/DOWN arrow keys to navigate through available channels. The radio supports 12 channels within the 156-174 MHz frequency range.

5.4 Transmitting (Talking)

1. Select the desired channel.
2. Press and hold the PTT (Push-To-Talk) button located on the side of the radio.
3. Speak clearly into the microphone, which is located at the bottom front of the radio.
4. Release the PTT button to listen for a response.

Note: The radio operates at 5W/1W selectable power output. For short-range communication, 1W is sufficient and conserves battery life. For longer distances, use 5W.
