2. Package Contents
Upon unboxing your Microsoft Surface Pro 3, please verify that all the following items are present:

3. Initial Setup
- Charge the Device: Before first use, connect the 36W Power Supply to the charging port on your Surface Pro 3 and plug it into a power outlet. The battery indicator will show charging status.
- Power On: Press and hold the power button located on the top edge of the device until the Microsoft logo appears on the screen.
- Initial Windows Setup: Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the Windows 10 setup process. This includes selecting your region, language, connecting to a Wi-Fi network, and setting up your Microsoft account.
- Connect Surface Pen: The Surface Pen is pre-paired with your Surface Pro 3. If it does not respond, ensure the battery is inserted correctly and try re-pairing via Bluetooth settings in Windows.
- Optional: Attach Type Cover Keyboard: If you have a Type Cover keyboard (sold separately), align its magnetic connector with the bottom edge of the Surface Pro 3 until it clicks into place.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1. Basic Operation
- Power On/Off: Press the power button briefly to put the device to sleep or wake it up. To fully shut down, go to Start > Power > Shut down.
- Restart: Go to Start > Power > Restart.
- Adjust Kickstand: The integrated kickstand on the back of the Surface Pro 3 can be adjusted to various angles for comfortable viewing and typing.

4.2. Using the Touchscreen
The 12-inch display is a multi-touch screen. Use standard touch gestures:
- Tap: Equivalent to a mouse click.
- Tap and Hold: Equivalent to a right-click.
- Pinch to Zoom: Place two fingers on the screen and move them apart to zoom in, or together to zoom out.
- Swipe: Drag your finger across the screen to scroll or navigate.
4.3. Using the Surface Pen
The Surface Pen allows for precise input, drawing, and note-taking:
- Writing and Drawing: Use the pen directly on the screen for natural writing and drawing in compatible applications like OneNote.
- Right-Click: Press and hold the button on the side of the pen while tapping the screen.
- Erase: Use the eraser tip of the pen (opposite the writing tip) to erase digital ink.
- OneNote Quick Launch: Click the top button of the pen once to quickly open OneNote. Double-click to take a screenshot.
4.4. Connecting Peripherals
- USB Devices: The Surface Pro 3 has one USB 3.0 port. Connect USB flash drives, external hard drives, or other USB accessories.
- Wi-Fi: Connect to wireless networks via the Wi-Fi settings in Windows.
- Bluetooth: Pair Bluetooth devices like headphones, mice, or keyboards through the Bluetooth settings.
- MicroSD Card: Insert a microSD card into the dedicated slot for expanded storage.

5. Care and Maintenance

- Battery Care: To prolong battery life, avoid extreme temperatures. It is recommended to occasionally let the battery discharge below 20% before recharging.
- Software Updates: Regularly check for and install Windows updates to ensure optimal performance, security, and compatibility. Go to Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
- Storage: Store the device in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
6. Troubleshooting
