4. Setup and Installation

4.1 Package Contents

4.2 Mounting

The FXI-1A can be wall-mounted using the provided screws. Choose a location that is dry, well-ventilated, and easily accessible for wiring.

  1. Mark the desired mounting points on the wall using the unit as a template.

  3. Secure the unit to the wall using the mounting screws.

4.3 Wiring Connections

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Initial Power-Up

Once all wiring is complete, apply power to the FXI-1A. The unit will perform a self-test. No user interaction is required during initial power-up.

5.2 Making a Page

To initiate a page:

  1. Dial the extension or line connected to the FXI-1A from your telephone system.
  2. The FXI-1A will detect the incoming call and activate the paging system.
  3. Speak into the telephone handset to broadcast your message through the paging system.
  4. Hang up the telephone to end the page. The FXI-1A will then deactivate the paging system after a short delay.

5.3 Adjustments

The FXI-1A may include internal potentiometers or DIP switches for adjusting audio levels, VOX sensitivity, and page duration. Refer to the detailed wiring diagram or internal labels for specific adjustment points. Use a small screwdriver for adjustments.

  • Audio Level: Adjust to prevent distortion or ensure adequate volume.
  • VOX Sensitivity: Controls how easily the unit detects voice activity to activate the paging system.
  • Page Duration Timer: Sets the delay before the paging system deactivates after the call ends.

6. Maintenance

The Viking FXI-1A is designed for minimal maintenance. Regular checks include:
