2. Setup and Placement

2.1 Activation

To activate the alarm, locate the switch on the back of the unit and move it to the 'ON' position. After activation, press and hold the 'TEST/SILENCE' button to ensure the alarm is functioning correctly.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Digital Display

The backlit digital display provides real-time information:

  • CO Concentration: Displays current carbon monoxide levels in parts per million (PPM).
  • Peak CO Levels: Indicates the highest CO concentration detected since the last reset.

3.2 Alarm Signals

The CO710 uses distinct chirps and beeps to indicate different statuses:

  • 5 Chirps: End of Life Signal - Indicates the unit needs to be replaced.
  • 3 Chirps: Malfunction - Indicates a fault with the unit.
  • 4 Beeps: CO Alarm - Indicates dangerous levels of carbon monoxide detected.

3.3 Test/Silence Button

Press the 'TEST/SILENCE' button to:

4. Maintenance

4.1 Battery Life

The CO710 features a sealed, built-in 10-year lithium battery. This battery is not replaceable and is designed to power the unit for its entire 10-year lifespan, providing continuous protection without the need for battery changes.

4.2 End-of-Life Signal

When the alarm reaches the end of its 10-year operational life, it will emit 5 chirps to signal that it's time for replacement. This ensures you are always protected by a fully functional device.

4.3 Regular Testing

It is crucial to test your carbon monoxide alarm weekly to ensure it is operating correctly. Press and hold the 'TEST/SILENCE' button until the alarm sounds. If it does not sound, refer to the troubleshooting section.

5. Troubleshooting

5.1 CO Alarm (4 Beeps)

If the alarm sounds with 4 beeps, it indicates the presence of carbon monoxide. Immediately move to fresh air, either outdoors or by opening a door/window. Call your emergency services (Fire Department or 911) from a safe location.

5.2 Malfunction (3 Chirps)

If the alarm emits 3 chirps, it indicates a malfunction. The unit may not be able to detect CO effectively. Contact customer service for assistance.

5.3 End of Life Signal (5 Chirps)

If the alarm emits 5 chirps, it has reached the end of its operational life. The unit must be replaced immediately to ensure continued protection.
