2. Important Safety Instructions
- Read these instructions thoroughly before operating the product.
- Keep these instructions for future reference.
- Heed all warnings and follow all instructions.
- Do not use this apparatus near water or moisture.
- Clean only with a dry cloth.
- Do not block any ventilation openings. Install in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Do not install near any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other apparatus (including amplifiers) that produce heat.
- Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized or grounding-type plug. A polarized plug has two blades with one wider than the other. A grounding-type plug has two blades and a third grounding prong. The wide blade or the third prong are provided for your safety. If the provided plug does not fit into your outlet, consult an electrician for replacement of the obsolete outlet.
- Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched, particularly at plugs, convenience receptacles, and the point where they exit from the apparatus.
- Only use attachments/accessories specified by the manufacturer.
- Use only with the cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or table specified by the manufacturer, or sold with the apparatus. When a cart is used, use caution when moving the cart/apparatus combination to avoid injury from tip-over.
- Unplug this apparatus during lightning storms or when unused for long periods of time.
- Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. Servicing is required when the apparatus has been damaged in any way, such as power-supply cord or plug is damaged, liquid has been spilled or objects have fallen into the apparatus, the apparatus has been exposed to rain or moisture, does not operate normally, or has been dropped.
3. Unpacking and Inspection
Upon receiving your Turbosound iQ8 loudspeaker, carefully unpack the carton and inspect the unit for any signs of damage that may have occurred during transit. If damage is found, notify your dealer immediately. Retain the original packing materials for future use, such as shipping or storage.

4. Controls and Connections
The rear panel of the iQ8 loudspeaker provides all necessary controls and connection points for audio input, output, power, and networking.

Figure 4.1: Rear panel of the Turbosound iQ8, detailing inputs, outputs, DSP controls, and power connections.
Rear Panel Overview:
- DSP Control Section: Features a backlit LCD display and rotary push encoder for navigating menus and adjusting parameters. Buttons for PROCESS, SETUP, EXIT, and ENTER provide direct access to various DSP functions.
- Input A / Input B: Combination XLR/TRS input jacks for connecting audio sources. These inputs accept both balanced and unbalanced signals.
- Output A / Output B: XLR output jacks for sending the processed audio signal to other loudspeakers or audio devices.
- Mix Output: XLR output for sending a mixed signal of Input A and Input B.
- ULTRANET In / Thru: RJ45 connectors for ULTRANET digital audio networking, allowing connection to compatible devices for multi-channel audio distribution.
- USB Port: Type B USB connector for firmware updates and remote control via computer software.
- AC Input: PowerCon-compatible input for connecting the main power cable.
- AC Link Output: PowerCon-compatible output for daisy-chaining power to other iQ series loudspeakers.
- Power Switch: Toggles the unit's power on and off.
5. Setup and Operation
5.1 Physical Placement
The iQ8 can be used in various configurations:
- Pole Mounting: The loudspeaker features a dual-angle pole mount socket on the bottom, allowing for vertical or downward-tilted placement on a standard speaker pole.
- Floor Monitor: The cabinet design allows for use as a floor monitor.
- Suspension: Integrated M10 rigging points are provided for permanent installation using appropriate hardware (sold separately).

5.2 Power Connection
Connect the supplied power cord to the AC Input on the rear panel and then to a suitable mains power outlet. For multiple iQ series loudspeakers, use the AC Link Output to daisy-chain power, ensuring the total current draw does not exceed the maximum rating of the power source.
5.3 Audio Connections
Connect your audio source (e.g., mixer, instrument) to Input A or Input B using XLR or 1/4" TRS cables. Use the Output A/B or Mix Output to send signals to additional speakers or recording devices.
5.4 Initial Power-Up and DSP Control
After making all connections, switch on the power. The LCD display will illuminate, and the unit will initialize. Use the rotary push encoder and the PROCESS, SETUP, EXIT, and ENTER buttons to navigate the DSP menu. The Klark Teknik Digital Signal Processing provides total system control, including:
- Speaker Modelling: Access accurate models of industry-standard speakers to emulate their sonic characteristics.
- SCC (Spatial Contour Control): Adjust frequency response to compensate for the physical placement of the speaker (e.g., wall-mounted, corner, pole-mounted).
- EQ, Dynamics, and Delay: Fine-tune audio parameters for optimal sound in any environment.
5.5 ULTRANET Networking
The ULTRANET ports allow for digital audio signal distribution and remote control over a single CAT5 cable. Connect the ULTRANET output of a compatible device (e.g., digital mixer, ULTRANET distributor) to the iQ8's ULTRANET In port. Use the ULTRANET Thru port to daisy-chain to other ULTRANET-enabled devices.
6. Maintenance
6.1 Cleaning
Clean the exterior of the iQ8 loudspeaker with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or waxes, as these can damage the finish. Ensure no liquids enter the cabinet or control panel.
6.2 Storage
When not in use for extended periods, store the loudspeaker in a dry, dust-free environment, preferably in its original packaging or a protective cover.
7. Troubleshooting
- No Power: Ensure the power cord is securely connected to both the loudspeaker and a working power outlet. Check the power switch position.
- No Sound: Verify that audio cables are correctly connected to inputs and outputs. Check input levels on the iQ8 and the source device. Ensure the master volume is not muted or set too low.
- Distorted Sound: Reduce input levels to prevent clipping. Check cable integrity. Ensure the speaker is not overdriven.
- DSP Display Not Responding: Try cycling the power. If the issue persists, contact support.
- ULTRANET Connection Issues: Verify CAT5 cable connections and ensure all ULTRANET devices are compatible and properly configured.
