1. Introduction
The iReliev TENS + EMS Combination Unit is a versatile device designed for both pain relief and muscle stimulation. It integrates two distinct therapies:
- TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation): This therapy delivers low-voltage electrical pulses to the skin, stimulating nerve fibers to help block pain signals and promote the release of natural endorphins. It is commonly used for various types of pain, including arthritis.
- EMS (Electrical Muscle Stimulation): Also known as Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation (NMES), EMS uses electrical impulses to elicit muscle contractions. This can be beneficial for muscle strengthening, rehabilitation, and post-exercise recovery.

3. Setup and Preparation
3.1. Battery Installation
The iReliev TENS + EMS unit requires 3 AAA batteries (included). To install:
- Locate the battery compartment on the back of the device.
- Open the battery compartment cover.
- Insert 3 AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
3.2. Connecting Electrode Pads
The device comes with lead wires and electrode pads of various sizes. The unit has two independent channels (CH1 and CH2).
- Connect the lead wires to the electrode pads. Ensure a secure connection.
- Plug the lead wires into the output ports (CH1 and/or CH2) at the top of the iReliev unit.
- Ensure the device is turned OFF before attaching pads to your skin.
- Clean and dry the skin area where the pads will be placed.
- Remove the protective film from the electrode pads and firmly press them onto the skin. Ensure full contact.

4. Operating Instructions
The iReliev unit offers 14 pre-set therapy modes and adjustable settings for intensity and time.

4.1. Powering On/Off
- To turn ON: Press the "ON +" button.
- To turn OFF: Press the "OFF -" button.
4.2. Selecting a Therapy Mode
The device has 14 pre-set programs:
- P1-P7: TENS Pain Relief Modes.
- P8: Arthritis TENS Mode.
- P1-P6 (EMS): EMS Muscle Strength & Recovery Modes.
Press the "MODE" button to cycle through the available programs. The selected program will be displayed on the LCD screen.

4.3. Adjusting Intensity
The device offers 25 levels of intensity. Intensity can be adjusted independently for each channel (CH1 and CH2).
- Press "CH1" or "CH2" button to select the channel you wish to adjust.
- Press "ON +" to increase intensity.
- Press "OFF -" to decrease intensity.
- Adjust the intensity to a comfortable level, avoiding any painful sensations.
4.4. Setting the Timer
The therapy duration can be set from 5 to 60 minutes. The device will automatically shut off once the timer expires.
- After selecting a mode, the timer will be displayed.
- Use the "ON +" and "OFF -" buttons to adjust the therapy duration.
4.5. Lock Function
The lock function prevents accidental changes to settings during therapy.
- To activate: Press and hold the "MODE" button for a few seconds until a lock icon appears on the screen.
- To deactivate: Press and hold the "MODE" button again until the lock icon disappears.
4.6. Electrode Pad Placement
Proper pad placement is crucial for effective therapy. Refer to the diagrams below for common placement areas. Always ensure pads are placed on clean, dry skin.

5. Maintenance and Care
5.1. Device Care
- Wipe the device with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the device in water.
- Store the device in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Remove batteries if the device will not be used for an extended period.
5.2. Electrode Pad Care
- After each use, place the protective film back onto the adhesive side of the pads.
- Store pads in a sealed bag to prevent drying out.
- If pads lose their stickiness, gently wipe the adhesive surface with a damp cloth and allow to air dry. Replace pads when they no longer adhere properly.
- Do not share electrode pads with others.
