2. Safety Information
Always read and understand all safety warnings before using this product. Use in a well-ventilated area. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment, such as gloves and eye protection.
- Skin Contact: Avoid direct contact. If contact occurs, wash immediately with soap and water.
- Eye Contact: In case of contact, flush eyes with plenty of water for several minutes. Seek medical attention if irritation persists.
- Inhalation: Ensure adequate ventilation. If experiencing respiratory irritation, move to fresh air.
- Ingestion: Do not ingest. If swallowed, do not induce vomiting. Seek immediate medical attention.
- Flammability: Flash point is 67.00 degrees Celsius. Keep away from open flames and high heat.
- Storage: Keep out of reach of children and pets. Store in a cool, dry place.
3. Preparation
- Surface Preparation: For optimal bonding, surfaces must be clean, dry, and free of oil, grease, wax, or loose debris. Lightly abrading smooth surfaces with sandpaper can improve adhesion.
- Product Temperature: Ensure the epoxy components are at room temperature (20-25°C / 68-77°F) before mixing for best results.
- Dispensing: Remove the resealable cap from the syringe. If this is the first use, gently push the plunger to ensure both parts dispense evenly.
4. Application (Operating Instructions)
- Dispense: Press the plunger to dispense equal amounts of resin and hardener onto a clean, disposable mixing surface (e.g., the included mixing tray). Dispense only the amount needed for immediate use, as the working time is limited.
- Mix: Using the provided stir stick or a similar tool, thoroughly mix the two components for at least 30 seconds until a uniform color is achieved. Incomplete mixing will result in a weak or uncured bond.
- Apply: Immediately apply the mixed epoxy to both surfaces to be joined.
- Join & Clamp: Bring the surfaces together and hold firmly. For best results, clamp or apply pressure to the bonded parts for the initial set time.
5. Curing
- Set Time: The epoxy begins to set in approximately 5 minutes at room temperature. During this time, avoid disturbing the bonded parts.
- Cure Time: The epoxy will achieve functional strength in 1 hour.
- Full Cure: For maximum strength, allow the epoxy to cure for 24 hours.
- Appearance: ClearWeld dries to a clear finish.
6. Cleanup & Storage (Maintenance)
- Immediate Cleanup: Clean any excess uncured epoxy from tools and surfaces immediately with acetone or rubbing alcohol. Once cured, epoxy is difficult to remove.
- Syringe Storage: After use, wipe the syringe tips clean and securely replace the resealable cap. This prevents air exposure and drying of the remaining epoxy.
- Storage Conditions: Store the syringe in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Proper storage ensures a longer shelf life.
7. Troubleshooting
- Epoxy Not Setting/Curing:
- Ensure a precise 1:1 mixing ratio of both components.
- Mix thoroughly for at least 30 seconds until uniform.
- Verify ambient temperature is within recommended range (room temperature). Cold temperatures can significantly slow curing.
- Weak Bond:
- Ensure surfaces were properly cleaned and free of contaminants.
- Surfaces may require light abrasion for better mechanical adhesion.
- Ensure adequate clamping or pressure was applied during the initial set time.
- Cloudy or Discolored Finish:
- Incomplete mixing can lead to cloudiness.
- Moisture on surfaces or in the environment during curing can affect clarity.
