6.2. Flash Head Adjustment
The flash head can be tilted upwards to various angles for bounce flash photography. This allows you to soften the light and create more natural-looking illumination by bouncing the flash off a ceiling or wall.
- The flash head can be adjusted from 0 degrees (forward-facing) up to 90 degrees (straight up).
- Gently push the flash head upwards to set it to the desired angle.

6.3. Manual Flash Control
The Viltrox JY610 II operates in manual flash mode with a fixed light output. This means the flash power is not adjustable directly on the unit. You will need to adjust your camera's aperture, ISO, and shutter speed to achieve the desired exposure.
6.4. Optical Slave Modes (S1/S2)
The speedlite features S1 and S2 optical slave modes, allowing it to be triggered wirelessly by another flash unit. This is useful for off-camera lighting setups.
- S1 Mode: The speedlite will fire when it detects the first flash from a master flash unit. This mode is suitable for manual flash or TTL flash systems that do not pre-flash.
- S2 Mode: The speedlite will fire when it detects the second flash from a master flash unit. This mode is designed for master flash units that emit a pre-flash for red-eye reduction or TTL metering. The JY610 II will ignore the pre-flash and fire on the main flash.
- To select S1 or S2 mode, press the corresponding S1 or S2 button on the control panel.
6.5. Pilot Light / Test Flash
Press the PILOT button to emit a test flash. This allows you to check the flash coverage and light output before taking a picture. The PILOT light also indicates the flash readiness; it will illuminate when the flash is fully recycled and ready to fire.
7. Maintenance
7.1. Cleaning
- Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the speedlite.
- For the flash tube and sensor, use a lens cleaning cloth or a soft brush to gently remove dust.
- Do not use solvents, alcohol, or abrasive cleaners.
7.2. Storage
- When not in use for extended periods, remove the batteries to prevent leakage and damage to the unit.
- Store the speedlite in its protective bag in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
8. Troubleshooting
