Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the lifespan of your coffee maker.
Daily Cleaning:
- Drip Tray: The detachable drip tray can be removed and washed directly with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
- Pod Holder/Filter Basket: After each use, remove the pod holder or reusable filter basket. Discard used coffee grounds/pod. Wash with warm, soapy water, rinse, and dry.
- Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
Descaling (Recommended every 2-4 weeks, or as needed):
Mineral deposits (calcium and lime) can build up in your coffee maker over time, affecting performance. Descaling helps remove these deposits.
- Prepare Solution: Mix 1 part white vinegar with 1 part water. For example, 6 oz vinegar and 6 oz water.
- Fill Reservoir: Pour the vinegar solution into the water reservoir.
- Run Cycle: Place a large mug on the drip tray. Press the power button to start a brewing cycle. Once the machine starts dispensing, press the button again to stop the cycle. This allows the solution to soak inside the machine.
- Soak: Let the solution sit in the machine for at least 30 minutes, or up to an hour for heavy buildup.
- Complete Cycle: After soaking, press the power button again to complete the brewing cycle and dispense the remaining solution. Discard the solution.
- Rinse Cycles: Fill the reservoir with fresh, clean water. Run 2-3 full brewing cycles with only clean water to rinse out any residual vinegar smell or taste. Discard water after each cycle.
