4.3 Tonearm Balance and Tracking Force Adjustment

The cartridge is typically pre-mounted. Follow these steps to balance the tonearm and set the tracking force:

  1. Remove the stylus protector.
  2. Lower the tonearm lift.
  3. Carefully move the tonearm between the tonearm rest and the platter.
  4. Adjust the counterweight by rotating it until the tonearm floats horizontally.
  5. Return the tonearm to its rest. Hold the counterweight stationary and rotate the tracking force ring until the "0" mark aligns with the black line on the tonearm.
  6. Rotate the counterweight (including the ring) counter-clockwise to set the recommended tracking force for your cartridge (refer to cartridge specifications, typically 1.8g - 2.2g).

4.4 Anti-skating Adjustment

Attach the anti-skating weight thread to the second groove of the anti-skating stub for typical cartridges. Adjust as necessary based on listening tests.

4.5 Connecting to an Amplifier

Connect the turntable's RCA output cables to the "Phono" input of your amplifier or a dedicated phono preamplifier. Ensure the ground wire is connected to the ground terminal on your amplifier/preamplifier to minimize hum.

4.6 Power Connection

Connect the power supply to the turntable's power input and then plug it into a suitable wall outlet.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Powering On/Off

Press the power button located on the plinth to turn the turntable on or off. The platter will begin to rotate when powered on.

5.2 Playing a Record

  1. Place a record on the platter, ensuring it is centered.
  2. Lift the tonearm using the tonearm lift lever.
  3. Carefully position the stylus over the desired starting groove of the record.
  4. Gently lower the tonearm lift lever to allow the stylus to descend onto the record.

5.3 Stopping Playback

  1. Lift the tonearm using the tonearm lift lever.
  2. Return the tonearm to its rest.
  3. Press the power button to stop the platter rotation.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning the Turntable

Wipe the plinth and platter with a soft, dry, anti-static cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents. For the high-gloss finish, use a specialized cleaning solution if necessary, applied to the cloth, not directly to the surface.

6.2 Cleaning the Stylus

Use a dedicated stylus cleaning brush or fluid. Always brush from back to front, never side to side, to avoid damaging the stylus cantilever.

6.3 Drive Belt Replacement

Over time, the drive belt may stretch or degrade. If you notice inconsistent speed or reduced performance, replace the belt with an original Pro-Ject replacement part. Refer to section 4.2 for belt installation.
