6. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and longevity of your machine.

6.1. Daily Cleaning

  • Drip Tray: Empty and rinse the drip tray after each use or when the indicator floats up.
  • Portafilter: After each use, remove the portafilter, discard coffee grounds/pods/capsules, and rinse the filter basket and portafilter under warm water.
  • Steam Wand: Immediately after steaming milk, wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth. Briefly open the steam knob to clear any milk residue from inside the wand.
  • Brewing Head: After removing the portafilter, run a short cycle of water through the brewing head to rinse away any coffee residue.

6.2. Regular Cleaning (Weekly/Bi-weekly)

  • Water Tank: Remove the water tank, wash it with mild detergent and warm water, rinse thoroughly, and dry before refilling.
  • Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the machine with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.

6.3. Descaling

Descaling is essential to remove mineral buildup and maintain machine performance. The frequency depends on water hardness and usage, typically every 2-3 months.

  1. Use a commercial descaling solution specifically designed for coffee machines, following the manufacturer's instructions.
