7. Setup

7.1 Placement

Place the HDC-150 on a stable, flat surface or within an equipment rack. Ensure there is adequate space around the unit for ventilation. Avoid placing it near heat-generating components.

7.2 Connecting Your Equipment

  1. Power Off All Equipment: Before making any connections, ensure all your electronic components and the HDC-150 are powered off and unplugged from their existing power sources.
  2. Connect the HDC-150: Plug the supplied AC power cord into the AC Power Input (8) on the rear of the HDC-150, then plug the other end into a grounded wall outlet.
  3. Connect High-Current Devices: Plug high-power components such as power amplifiers, receivers, or subwoofers into the High-Current Outlets (4). These outlets are "Always On" and provide unfiltered power for maximum dynamic range.
  4. Connect Digital Devices: Plug digital source components (e.g., Blu-ray players, media streamers, gaming consoles) into the HD Digital Filtered Outlets (1).
  5. Connect Video Devices: Plug video display devices (e.g., TVs, projectors) into the HD Video Filtered Outlets (2).
  6. Connect Analog Devices: Plug analog audio components (e.g., preamplifiers, CD players, turntables) into the Analog Filtered Outlets (3).
  7. Connect Network/Coaxial Lines (Optional):
    • For network protection, connect your incoming Ethernet cable to the "IN" port of the Data/Network Protection (5) and connect a short Ethernet cable from the "OUT" port to your network device (router, switch, etc.).
    • For coaxial protection, connect your incoming cable/satellite line to the "IN" port of the Coaxial Protection (6) and connect a short coaxial cable from the "OUT" port to your TV, cable box, or satellite receiver.
  8. Power On: Once all connections are secure, press the Power Button on the front panel of the HDC-150. The Voltage Display will illuminate, and the "Protection On" and "Ground OK" indicators should light up.

8. Operation

8.1 Powering On/Off

Press the Power Button on the front panel to toggle the power to the switched outlets (1, 2, 3). The High-Current Outlets (4) are always on when the unit is plugged into a live wall outlet.

8.2 Understanding the Display and Indicators

  • Voltage Display: Continuously shows the incoming AC voltage. A typical reading is around 120V.
  • Protection On: Indicates that the surge protection is active. If this light is off, the surge protection may be compromised, and the unit should be inspected or replaced.
  • Ground OK: Confirms that the wall outlet is properly grounded. If this light is off, there may be a grounding issue with your electrical wiring, and you should consult a qualified electrician.

8.3 Active Surge Processor (ASP) Functionality

The HDC-150's ASP technology automatically disconnects power to all connected components if the incoming voltage goes above 130V or below 85V. This protects your equipment from damaging voltage fluctuations. Once the voltage returns to a safe range, the unit will automatically restore power to the switched outlets.

9. Maintenance

9.1 Cleaning

Unplug the unit before cleaning. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior surfaces. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosol sprays.

9.2 Circuit Breaker

The HDC-150 is equipped with a resettable 15A circuit breaker (7) on the rear panel. If the unit experiences an overload, the circuit breaker will trip, cutting power to the outlets. To reset, unplug the unit from the wall, reduce the load on the outlets, and then press the circuit breaker button back in. Reconnect the unit to the wall outlet.

10. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your HDC-150, refer to the table below for common problems and solutions.

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
No power to switched outlets.Unit is off; Circuit breaker tripped; Under/Over-voltage condition.Press the Power Button; Reset the circuit breaker (see Section 9.2); Wait for voltage to stabilize (ASP feature).
"Protection On" indicator is off.Surge protection may be compromised. The unit may have absorbed a significant surge. Contact customer support for inspection or replacement.
"Ground OK" indicator is off.Wall outlet is not properly grounded.Consult a qualified electrician to inspect your home's wiring. Do not use the unit with an ungrounded outlet.
Voltage display shows unusual readings (e.g., below 85V or above 130V).Extreme voltage fluctuation. The ASP feature has activated. The unit will automatically restore power when voltage stabilizes. If persistent, consult an electrician.
