Product Components

The Laica Prime Line Elegance Water Filter Jug includes the following components:

  • Water Filter Jug (3.0 Litre total capacity, 2.0 Litre filtered water capacity)
  • Lid with "Quick Fill" door
  • Removable Electronic Filter Change Indicator
  • 1 x Bi-flux Water Filter Cartridge (30-day supply)

Setup Instructions

  1. Unpack and Clean: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Wash the jug, lid, and hopper (the part that holds the filter) with warm soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. Do not wash the electronic indicator in water.
  2. Prepare the Filter Cartridge: Remove the bi-flux filter cartridge from its protective packaging. Submerge the filter cartridge completely in cold water for approximately 15 minutes to remove any air bubbles. Gently shake the cartridge while submerged to aid in air release.
  3. Install the Filter Cartridge: Insert the prepared filter cartridge firmly into the designated opening in the hopper. Ensure it is seated correctly to prevent unfiltered water from bypassing the filter.
  4. Assemble the Jug: Place the hopper with the installed filter into the jug. Secure the lid onto the jug.
  5. Activate Electronic Indicator: Press and hold the button on the electronic indicator located on the lid until all segments appear on the display. This resets the indicator and starts the 30-day countdown for filter replacement.
  6. Initial Filtration: Fill the jug with tap water. Discard the first two filtered batches of water. This primes the filter and removes any loose carbon particles. The jug is now ready for use.

Operating Instructions

  1. Filling the Jug: Open the "Quick Fill" door on the lid and place the jug under a tap. Fill the hopper with cold tap water. The water will slowly pass through the filter cartridge into the main jug reservoir.
  2. Filtering Process: Allow the water to completely filter through before pouring. The bi-flux filter system works by reducing chlorine, heavy metals, and other unwanted substances, improving the taste of your drinking water.
  3. Serving Water: Once filtered, pour water from the jug as needed. The jug is designed to fit comfortably in most refrigerator doors for chilled water.

Maintenance

Filter Cartridge Replacement

The Laica bi-flux filter cartridge has a lifespan of approximately 30 days or 150 liters of filtered water, whichever comes first. Regular replacement is crucial for maintaining optimal filtration performance and water quality.

  1. Monitor the Indicator: The electronic indicator on the lid will visually signal when it is time to replace the filter. When the indicator shows that the filter life is depleted, prepare a new filter cartridge.
  2. Remove Old Filter: Remove the lid and the hopper from the jug. Carefully pull out the used filter cartridge. Dispose of it responsibly.
  3. Install New Filter: Follow steps 2-4 from the "Setup Instructions" to prepare and install a new bi-flux filter cartridge.
  4. Reset Indicator: After installing the new filter, press and hold the button on the electronic indicator until all segments reappear to reset the 30-day countdown.

Cleaning the Jug

Regularly clean the jug, lid, and hopper with warm soapy water. Rinse thoroughly. The electronic indicator should be removed from the lid before washing and wiped clean with a damp cloth if necessary. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scrubbers.

Filter Technology

The LAICA bi-flux filter cartridges are manufactured in Italy and utilize silver-plated active carbon and ion exchange resins. Active carbons are effective in reducing chlorine and its derivatives, while ion exchange resins are effective in reducing heavy metals, if present in tap water. This balanced filtration helps improve the taste of tap water by reducing:

  • Heavy metals
  • Chlorine
  • Chlorinated organic solvents
  • Chemical contaminants
  • Certain chlorinated pesticides and herbicides
  • Trihalomethanes

Troubleshooting

  • Electronic Indicator Not Working: If the electronic indicator on the lid does not display or reset, ensure it is properly seated. If the issue persists, the battery may be depleted. The indicator is typically sealed and not user-replaceable; contact customer support if it fails prematurely.
  • Slow Filtration: If water filters very slowly, the filter cartridge may be clogged or nearing the end of its life. Replace the filter cartridge as per the maintenance instructions. Ensure the filter was properly prepared by submerging it in water to remove air bubbles before installation.
  • Unpleasant Water Taste: An unpleasant taste in the filtered water usually indicates that the filter cartridge needs to be replaced. Ensure the filter is replaced every 30 days or after 150 liters of use.
  • Water Leaks: Check that the filter cartridge is correctly and firmly seated in the hopper. Ensure the hopper and lid are properly assembled onto the jug.
