1. Introduction

The SYMA X5SW Explorers2 is a 2.4G 4-channel, 6-axis gyro RC quadcopter featuring a 0.3MP HD WiFi camera for First Person View (FPV) capabilities. This manual provides comprehensive instructions for safe assembly, operation, and maintenance of your quadcopter. Please read this manual thoroughly before operating the device.

2. Safety Precautions

• Adult Supervision: Recommended for users aged 12 years and up. Younger users should always be supervised by an adult.
• Flight Environment: Operate in open, clear areas away from people, animals, buildings, and power lines. Avoid flying in strong winds.
• Battery Safety: Do not overcharge batteries. Discontinue use if batteries show signs of damage or swelling. Use only the provided charger.
• Propeller Safety: Keep fingers, hair, and loose clothing away from rotating propellers.

4. Assembly

Follow these steps to assemble your quadcopter:

1. Attach Landing Gear: Carefully slide the four landing gear pieces onto the designated slots on the underside of the quadcopter until they click into place.
2. Install Propeller Guards: Secure the protecting frame (propeller guards) to the arms of the quadcopter using the provided screws and screwdriver. Ensure they are firmly attached to prevent detachment during flight.

3. Attach Camera: Connect the 0.3MP WiFi camera to the port on the underside of the quadcopter. Ensure the connection is secure.

4. Install Phone Clipper: Attach the smart phone clipper to the remote controller if you plan to use the FPV function with your smartphone.

5. Battery Charging and Installation

5.1 Quadcopter Battery

The quadcopter uses a 3.7V 500mAh Li-poly battery.

1. Connect the Li-poly battery to the USB charger.
2. Plug the USB charger into a USB power source (e.g., computer, USB wall adapter).
3. The charging time is approximately 120 minutes. Do not leave unattended during charging.
4. Once charged, open the battery compartment on the quadcopter and insert the battery, ensuring correct polarity. Close the compartment securely.

5.2 Remote Controller Batteries

The remote controller requires 4 AA batteries (not included).

1. Open the battery cover on the back of the remote controller.
2. Insert 4 AA batteries, observing the correct polarity (+/-).
3. Close the battery cover.

6. Remote Controller Overview

The 2.4G transmitter operates in MODE2 (left throttle hand). Familiarize yourself with the controls before flight.

• Left Stick (Throttle/Yaw): Controls altitude (up/down) and rotation (left/right).
• Right Stick (Pitch/Roll): Controls forward/backward movement and left/right strafing.
• Trim Buttons: Used to fine-tune the quadcopter's stability if it drifts in any direction.
• Headless Mode Button: Activates/deactivates Headless Mode.
• Speed Switch: Toggles between different speed modes (e.g., low, high).
• Flip Button: Initiates 360-degree flips (ensure sufficient altitude).
• Power Switch: Turns the remote controller on/off.

7. Operating Instructions

7.1 Pairing the Quadcopter and Remote

1. Ensure the quadcopter battery is charged and installed, and the remote controller has fresh AA batteries.
2. Place the quadcopter on a flat, level surface.
3. Turn on the quadcopter. The indicator lights will flash.
4. Turn on the remote controller.
5. Push the left stick (throttle) all the way up, then all the way down. You will hear a beep, and the quadcopter lights will become solid, indicating successful pairing.

7.2 Take-off and Landing

• Take-off: After pairing, slowly push the left stick (throttle) upwards to make the quadcopter ascend.
• Landing: Slowly pull the left stick (throttle) downwards to make the quadcopter descend. Once it lands, pull the stick all the way down to stop the motors.

7.3 Flight Controls

• Ascend/Descend: Left stick up/down.
• Turn Left/Right (Yaw): Left stick left/right.
• Forward/Backward (Pitch): Right stick up/down.
• Strafe Left/Right (Roll): Right stick left/right.

7.4 Headless Mode

In Headless Mode, the quadcopter's orientation is relative to the pilot, regardless of which way the front of the drone is facing. This simplifies control for beginners.

1. Before activating, ensure the quadcopter is facing forward relative to the pilot.
2. Press the Headless Mode button on the remote controller. The quadcopter lights will flash rapidly to confirm activation.
3. To exit Headless Mode, press the button again.

7.5 FPV Function (WiFi Camera)

The 0.3MP HD WiFi camera allows for real-time video transmission to a compatible smartphone (iOS and Android).

1. Download and install the SYMA FPV app on your smartphone.
2. Turn on the quadcopter and ensure the camera is connected.
3. On your smartphone, go to WiFi settings and connect to the quadcopter's WiFi network (usually named "SYMA-X5SW" or similar).
4. Open the SYMA FPV app. You should see a live video feed from the camera.
