Setup and Installation

Proper installation ensures the stability and longevity of your Bastis hook. It is designed for wall mounting and can hold up to 15 pounds.

1. Prepare the Surface: Choose a suitable wall surface, such as drywall, that can support the hook and its intended load. Ensure the area is clean and free of obstructions.
2. Mark Drilling Points: Hold the hook against the wall at the desired height and use a pencil to mark the position for the mounting screw. The hook features a keyhole slot on the back for easy alignment.
3. Drill and Insert Anchor (if needed): Depending on your wall material, you may need to drill a pilot hole and insert a wall anchor. For drywall, a suitable anchor is recommended to ensure secure fastening.
4. Mount the Hook: Insert a screw (not included with the product) into the wall or anchor, leaving a small portion protruding. Align the keyhole slot on the back of the Bastis hook with the screw head and slide the hook down to secure it in place. Tighten the screw until the hook is firmly attached to the wall, but do not overtighten.

Operating Instructions

Once installed, the IKEA Bastis hook is ready for use. Simply hang your pet's leash, collar, or other lightweight accessories on the hook. The design allows for easy hanging and retrieval of items.

• Ensure items hung do not exceed the 15-pound weight limit.
• For optimal organization, consider installing multiple hooks in a row to accommodate several leashes or items.

Care and Maintenance

To keep your IKEA Bastis hook in good condition, follow these simple care instructions:

• Cleaning: Wipe the hook clean with a damp cloth. A mild soap solution can be used for tougher stains, then wipe dry with a clean cloth.
• Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or strong chemicals, as these may damage the rubber material or matte finish.
• Regular Check: Periodically check the mounting screw to ensure it remains tight and the hook is securely fastened to the wall.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues with your Bastis hook, consider the following common solutions:

• Hook Feels Loose: If the hook feels wobbly or loose, gently tighten the mounting screw. Ensure the screw is properly seated in the wall anchor (if used) and the keyhole slot. Avoid overtightening, which can strip the screw hole.
• Hook Detaches from Base: In rare cases, the rubber hook may separate from its internal mounting base. This can occur if the hook is subjected to excessive force or weight beyond its stated limit. Re-attach the rubber portion to the base if possible, ensuring it clicks securely into place. If the internal mechanism is damaged, the product may need replacement.
• Items Sliding Off: Ensure items are properly balanced on the hook. The design is intended for items with a loop or handle that can securely rest on the tail.
