2. Safety Instructions

Adhering to these safety guidelines is crucial for safe operation and to prevent damage to the controller and connected components.

  • Ensure your battery has sufficient voltage for the controller to recognize its type before initial installation.
  • Keep battery cables as short as possible to minimize power loss.
  • This regulator is designed exclusively for lead-acid batteries: OPEN, AGM, GEL. It is not compatible with nickel-metal hydride, lithium-ion, or other battery types.
  • The charge regulator is solely for regulating solar modules. Do not connect any other charging source to the regulator.
  • When uninstalling, follow the reverse order of connection to prevent damage.

3. Setup and Installation

Follow these steps carefully to connect your solar charge controller:

  1. Connect the Battery: Connect the battery to the charge regulator first. Ensure correct polarity (plus and minus). The controller will auto-adapt to the battery type (6V or 12V).
  2. Connect the Photovoltaic Module: Connect the solar panel to the charge regulator. Ensure correct polarity (plus and minus).
  3. Connect the Load: Connect the consumer (DC loads) to the charge regulator. Ensure correct polarity (plus and minus).

Important: An improper connection sequence can damage the controller. Always connect the battery first, then the solar panel, then the load. When disconnecting, reverse the order: disconnect load, then solar panel, then battery.

4. Operating Modes

The controller offers three load operating modes, which are factory-set. These modes determine when the connected load will be active:

  • Light-open (+delay): The load turns on after sunset and turns off after a set delay (1-13 hours).
  • D2D (Dusk to Dawn): The load remains on from dusk until dawn, with a built-in delay.
  • System (24 Hours Load On): The load is always active, unless the battery voltage drops below the low voltage disconnection threshold.

6. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your solar charge controller, regular maintenance is recommended:

  • Cleanliness: Keep the controller free from dust, dirt, and debris. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.
  • Connection Check: Periodically inspect all wire connections to ensure they are secure and free from corrosion. Loose connections can lead to power loss or overheating.
  • Physical Inspection: Check for any signs of physical damage, such as cracks, frayed wires, or discoloration. If damage is found, discontinue use and contact support.
  • Environmental Conditions: While the controller is IP67 waterproof, ensure it is not submerged for extended periods or exposed to extreme conditions beyond its operating temperature range.

7. Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your solar charge controller.

SituationProbable CauseSolution

Load LED offMode setting is incorrectVerify and set the correct operating mode.
Load LED offBattery voltage is lowRecharge the battery.
Load LED slow flashingOverload on the outputReduce the connected load wattage.
Load LED slow flashingShort circuit protection activatedCheck for short circuits in the load wiring; the controller will auto-reconnect once the issue is resolved.
Controller powers offBattery voltage too low or reverse polarityCheck battery voltage and connection polarity.

Common Questions:

  • Why does the controller stop charging from the solar panel?
If the battery is fully charged and enters the floating state, the controller will reduce or stop charging from the solar panel. It will then charge the battery with a weak current to maintain its charge and compensate for any self-discharge. Disconnect and measure the battery voltage to confirm if it's fully charged.
  • Why did the load stop working after a while?
The controller disconnects the load output if the battery voltage reaches the low voltage disconnection (LVD) threshold. This prevents excessive battery discharge. Use a multimeter to measure the battery voltage. The load will reconnect once the battery voltage recovers to the power recovery voltage (LVR).
