1. Introduction

This manual provides essential instructions for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your CUCKOO High Pressure Rice Cooker, model CRP-P1009SW. Please read this manual thoroughly before using the appliance and retain it for future reference.

2. Important Safety Precautions

To prevent injury or property damage, always follow basic safety precautions when using electrical appliances. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Read all instructions carefully before use.
  • Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
  • To protect against electrical shock, do not immerse cord, plugs, or the main unit in water or other liquid.
  • Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
  • Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts.
  • Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug, or after the appliance malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner.
  • Do not use outdoors.
  • Do not let the cord hang over the edge of a table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
  • Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
  • Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance containing hot oil or other hot liquids.
  • Always attach plug to appliance first, then plug cord into the wall outlet. To disconnect, turn any control to "off", then remove plug from wall outlet.
  • Do not use appliance for other than intended use.
  • This appliance cooks under pressure. Improper use may result in scalding injury. Make certain unit is properly closed before operating.
  • Do not fill the unit over 2/3 full. When cooking foods that expand during cooking, such as rice or dehydrated vegetables, do not fill the unit over 1/2 full.
  • Always check the pressure release device for clogging before use.
  • Do not open the pressure cooker until the unit has cooled and internal pressure has been released.

4. Initial Setup

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove all packaging materials and accessories from the box.
  2. Cleaning: Before first use, wash the inner pot, inner lid, steam plate, rice spatula, and measuring cup with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely. Wipe the exterior of the main unit with a damp cloth.
  3. Placement: Place the rice cooker on a stable, level, heat-resistant surface, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit.
  4. Power Connection: Plug the power cord into a grounded 110V electrical outlet. The display will illuminate.
  5. Voice Guide Setting: The unit features a voice guide. You can adjust the language (Korean, English, Chinese) and volume using the VOICE button and menu options. Refer to the detailed manual for specific steps.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Basic Rice Cooking (Glutinous/White Rice)

  1. Measure Rice: Use the provided measuring cup to measure the desired amount of rice. One cup of uncooked rice yields approximately two cups of cooked rice.
  2. Wash Rice: Rinse the rice thoroughly until the water runs clear.
  3. Add Rice to Inner Pot: Place the washed rice into the inner pot.
  4. Add Water: Fill water up to the corresponding water level mark inside the inner pot for the type and amount of rice. For example, for 3 cups of glutinous rice, fill to the 'Glutinous Rice 3' mark.
  5. Place Inner Pot: Insert the inner pot into the main unit, ensuring it is seated correctly.
  6. Close Lid: Close the top lid firmly until it locks. Ensure the pressure handle is in the "LOCK" position.
  7. Select Mode: Press the GLUTIN. RICE button. The display will show the estimated cooking time.
  8. Start Cooking: Press the START/COOK button. The rice cooker will begin the cooking process.
  9. Completion: Once cooking is complete, the cooker will automatically switch to "KEEP WARM" mode and emit a notification sound.
  10. Serve: Carefully open the lid after the pressure has fully released (indicated by the float valve dropping). Use the provided spatula to fluff and serve the rice.

5.2 Other Cooking Modes

Your CUCKOO rice cooker offers 13 versatile cooking modes. To select a different mode:

  1. Prepare ingredients as per recipe.
  2. Place ingredients in the inner pot.
  3. Close the lid and ensure it is locked.
  4. Press the MENU/SELECTION button repeatedly to cycle through available modes (e.g., GABA RICE, BROWN RICE, PORRIDGE, NURUNGJI, MULTI COOK, HIGH HEAT).
  5. Once the desired mode is displayed, press the START/COOK button to begin.

5.3 Turbo Mode for Faster Cooking

For quicker white rice preparation, use the Turbo mode:

  1. Follow steps 5.1.1 to 5.1.6 for measuring, washing, and loading rice and water.
  2. Press the GLUTIN. TURBO button.
  3. Press the START/COOK button. White rice can be cooked in approximately 18 minutes using this mode.

6. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and longevity of your rice cooker.

6.1 Daily Cleaning

  • Inner Pot: Hand wash the non-stick inner pot with warm, soapy water and a soft sponge. Do not use abrasive cleaners or metal scrubbers.
  • Inner Lid: The stainless steel inner lid is detachable for easy cleaning. Remove it, wash with warm, soapy water, rinse, and dry thoroughly before reattaching.
  • Dew Collector: Empty and clean the dew collector after each use.
  • Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the main unit with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the main unit in water.

6.2 Auto Clean (Steam Sterilization)

The rice cooker features an Auto Clean function for steam sterilization of the inner components:

  1. Fill the inner pot with water up to the "Auto Clean" mark.
  2. Place the inner pot into the main unit and close the lid.
  3. Press the AUTO CLEAN button.
  4. Press the START/COOK button to begin the steam cleaning cycle.
  5. After the cycle, allow the unit to cool, then empty any remaining water and wipe dry.

Note: Auto Clean is for sterilization and does not replace manual cleaning of food residues.
