Tone City Fuxx Fuzz Octave Fuzz Pedal Instruction Manual

Model: T-10 FUXX FUZZ

1. Introduction

The Tone City Fuxx Fuzz is a compact guitar effects pedal designed to deliver a powerful fuzz tone with an optional octave effect. This pedal combines elements of fuzz and distortion, allowing guitarists to achieve a biting, cutting sound that stands out in a mix. The integrated upper octave effect can be activated or deactivated via a front-facing toggle switch, offering versatile tonal possibilities. All Tone City pedals, including the Fuxx Fuzz, feature true bypass circuitry to ensure your guitar's signal remains unaffected when the pedal is disengaged.

This manual provides essential information for setting up, operating, and maintaining your Tone City Fuxx Fuzz pedal.

2. Setup

2.1 Power Connection

The Tone City Fuxx Fuzz pedal requires a standard 9V DC power supply (center negative). This pedal does not have a battery compartment. Connect the 9V DC power supply to the power input jack located on the side of the pedal.

2.2 Audio Connections

Use standard 1/4-inch instrument cables for audio connections.

  • Connect your guitar or previous effects pedal to the IN jack on the right side of the Fuxx Fuzz pedal.
  • Connect the OUT jack on the left side of the Fuxx Fuzz pedal to your amplifier or the next effects pedal in your signal chain.

Ensure all connections are secure before powering on your amplifier.

3. Operation

The Tone City Fuxx Fuzz pedal features intuitive controls for shaping your sound. Familiarize yourself with the control layout:

3.1 Controls

  • Volume: Controls the overall output level of the pedal. Adjust to balance the volume with your bypassed signal or other effects.
  • Crazy Gain: Adjusts the amount of fuzz and distortion. Higher settings produce more intense and saturated fuzz.
  • Tone: Shapes the frequency response of the fuzz effect. Turning it clockwise increases treble for brighter tones, while turning it counter-clockwise emphasizes bass for thicker, darker tones.
  • Switch (Octave On/Off): This toggle switch activates or deactivates the upper octave effect.
    • Up Position: Octave effect is engaged.
    • Down Position: Octave effect is disengaged (standard fuzz).
  • Footswitch: Engages or bypasses the effect. When the effect is engaged, the LED indicator will illuminate.

Experiment with different settings of the Volume, Gain, and Tone knobs, both with and without the Octave engaged, to discover the wide range of sounds this pedal can produce.

4. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Tone City Fuxx Fuzz pedal, follow these simple maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Wipe the pedal with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust and grime. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these can damage the finish and internal components.
  • Storage: Store the pedal in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and high humidity.
  • Power Supply: Always use a regulated 9V DC center-negative power supply. Using an incorrect power supply can damage the pedal and void its warranty.
  • Connections: Periodically check all audio and power connections for tightness and wear. Loose connections can lead to signal loss or unwanted noise.
