Setup Instructions
Follow these steps to connect your GOgroove Mini Phono Preamp to your audio system.
Connecting Your Turntable:
- Locate the RCA output cables from your turntable. These are typically red (right channel) and white (left channel).
- Connect these RCA cables from your turntable to the RCA Input (L/R) ports on the GOgroove Mini Phono Preamp. Ensure the red cable connects to 'R' and the white cable connects to 'L'.
- If your turntable has a ground wire, connect it to the Ground Terminal (GND) on the preamp. This helps reduce unwanted hum or noise.

Connecting to Your Audio System:
- Locate the RCA input ports on your receiver, amplifier, or powered speakers. These are typically labeled 'AUX', 'CD', 'Line In', or similar.
- Connect a set of RCA cables (not included) from the RCA Output (L/R) ports on the GOgroove Mini Phono Preamp to the chosen input on your audio system.
- Alternatively, you can use the 1/4" TRS Output to connect to compatible audio equipment or headphones. Note that this output does not have volume control.

Power Connection:
- Plug the included 12 Volt DC power adapter into the DC 12V Input on the preamp.
- Plug the power adapter into a standard wall outlet. The LED power indicator on the preamp will illuminate, confirming it is powered on.

Operating Instructions
Once all connections are made and the preamp is powered on, you can begin playing your vinyl records.
- The preamp automatically applies RIAA equalization, which is essential for accurate playback of vinyl records. This boosts the low frequencies and cuts the high frequencies during playback to compensate for the inverse process applied during record mastering.
- Adjust the volume using your connected receiver, amplifier, or powered speakers. The preamp itself does not have volume controls.
- The 1/4" TRS output can be used for direct monitoring with headphones or for connecting to other professional audio equipment.
Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your GOgroove Mini Phono Preamp, follow these simple maintenance guidelines:
- Keep the unit clean by wiping it with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using liquid cleaners or solvents.
- Ensure the unit is placed in a well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and excessive moisture.
- Disconnect the power adapter when the unit will not be used for extended periods.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your GOgroove Mini Phono Preamp, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
- No Sound or Low Volume:
- Ensure all RCA cables are securely connected to the correct input and output ports.
- Verify that the power adapter is properly connected and the LED power indicator is illuminated.
- Check the volume level on your connected receiver, amplifier, or powered speakers.
- Confirm that your turntable's output is set to 'Phono' if it has a built-in preamp bypass switch.
- Humming or Buzzing Noise:
- Ensure the turntable's ground wire is securely connected to the Ground Terminal (GND) on the preamp.
- Check for loose cable connections.
- Try moving the preamp or audio cables away from other electronic devices that may cause interference.
- Ensure the power adapter is functioning correctly and is not near other power cables.
- Distorted Audio:
- Verify that the turntable's output is clean and free from distortion.
- Ensure the volume on your receiving audio equipment is not set too high, causing clipping.
- Check the condition of your vinyl records and turntable stylus.
