5. Operating Instructions
The TLR-6 features ambidextrous momentary/steady on/off switches located on both sides of the unit. It offers three distinct operating modes:
- Light Only Mode: Activates only the white LED light.
- Laser Only Mode: Activates only the red aiming laser.
- Light & Laser Mode: Activates both the white LED light and the red aiming laser simultaneously.
5.1 Switching Modes
To cycle through the modes, press and hold both ambidextrous switches simultaneously until the desired mode is active. The unit will remember the last selected mode when turned off and on again using a single switch press.
5.2 Momentary and Steady On
- Momentary On: Press and hold either ambidextrous switch. The light/laser will remain on as long as the switch is held. Release to turn off.
- Steady On: Quickly press and release either ambidextrous switch. The light/laser will remain on until the switch is pressed and released again.
5.3 Laser Adjustment
The red aiming laser can be adjusted for windage and elevation using the provided .050 hex wrench. Locate the small adjustment screws on the unit and make small, incremental turns to fine-tune the laser's point of aim.

6. Battery Information
The Streamlight TLR-6 is powered by two CR1/3N lithium metal batteries, which are included with the unit. The design allows for tool-less battery replacement without needing to remove the light from the firearm, preserving your laser's zero.
6.1 Battery Replacement
- Ensure the unit is turned off.
- Locate the battery compartment door, typically on the side of the unit.
- Open the battery compartment door.
- Remove the old batteries and insert new CR1/3N batteries, observing the correct polarity (+/-).
- Close the battery compartment door securely.
Average battery life is approximately 11 hours for the laser, and 1 hour for the light/laser combination.
7. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your TLR-6. Keep the unit clean and free from debris.
- Cleaning: Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe down the exterior of the unit. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the polymer housing or lens.
- Lens Care: Gently clean the light lens and laser aperture with a lens cloth or cotton swab to maintain clarity and beam quality.
- Battery Contacts: Periodically inspect battery contacts for corrosion. Clean with a pencil eraser or cotton swab if necessary.
- Storage: When storing the unit for extended periods, remove the batteries to prevent leakage and damage.
8. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Light/Laser does not turn on. | Dead batteries, incorrect battery insertion, loose connection. | Replace batteries, check polarity, ensure unit is securely mounted. |
| Light/Laser flickers. | Low batteries, loose battery contacts, loose mounting. | Replace batteries, clean battery contacts, tighten mounting screws. |
| Laser dot is not accurate. | Laser not zeroed, unit shifted on firearm. | Adjust laser windage and elevation using the hex wrench. Ensure unit is securely mounted. |
| Switches are unresponsive. | Debris obstructing switches, internal malfunction. | Clean around switches. If problem persists, contact Streamlight customer support. |
