Introduction

The SanDisk Clip Jam is a compact and lightweight digital music player designed for music on the go. It features a bright one-inch screen and large navigation buttons for easy operation. Setup

Charging the Device

Before first use, fully charge your SanDisk Clip Jam. Connect the included USB cable to the player's charging port and then to a powered USB port on your computer or a USB wall adapter (not included). The device will indicate charging status on its screen. A full charge provides up to 18 hours of audio playback.

Connecting to a Computer and Transferring Music

1. Connect the Player: Use the provided USB cable to connect your Clip Jam to a USB port on your computer.
2. Access Storage: Your computer should recognize the Clip Jam as a removable storage device. It may appear as "SanDisk Clip Jam" or a generic drive letter.
3. Transfer Files:
   • Drag and Drop: Open the Clip Jam's drive folder on your computer. Locate your music files (MP3, WMA, AAC, Audible) on your computer. Drag and drop the desired music files or folders directly into the Clip Jam's music folder.
   • Copy and Paste: Right-click on your music files/folders, select "Copy," then navigate to the Clip Jam's music folder, right-click, and select "Paste."
4. Eject Safely: Once all files are transferred, safely eject the Clip Jam from your computer before disconnecting the USB cable to prevent data corruption.

For optimal organization, it is recommended to prefix song titles with letters (A-Z) or numbers (0001-1000) for easier sorting.

Operating Instructions

Basic Controls

• Power Button: Press and hold to turn the device on or off. A short press may lock/unlock the screen.
• Play/Pause Button: Press to play or pause the current track.
• Navigation Buttons (Up/Down/Left/Right): Use these to navigate through menus, select options, and adjust volume (Up/Down). Left/Right typically skips tracks.
• Menu Button: Access the main menu or context-sensitive options.
• Back Button: Return to the previous screen or menu.

Playing Music

1. Connect your headphones to the 3.5mm audio jack.
2. From the main menu, select "Music."
3. Navigate through your music library by Artist, Album, Song, or Folder.
4. Select a track and press the Play/Pause button to begin playback.
5. Use the Up/Down navigation buttons to adjust the volume.
6. Use the Left/Right navigation buttons to skip to the previous or next track.

Using the FM Radio

The SanDisk Clip Jam includes a built-in FM radio. Ensure your headphones are connected as they act as the antenna. From the main menu, select "FM Radio" and use the navigation buttons to scan for and select stations.

Maintenance

• Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the device. Avoid liquid cleaners or solvents.
• Storage: Store the Clip Jam in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
• Battery Care: To prolong battery life, avoid fully discharging the device frequently. Charge it regularly, even if not in use for extended periods.
• Water Exposure: The device is not waterproof. Avoid exposure to water or excessive moisture.

Troubleshooting

Device Not Recognized by Computer

• Ensure the USB cable is securely connected to both the Clip Jam and the computer's USB port.
• Try a different USB port on your computer.
• Restart your computer and try connecting again.
• Ensure you are using the original USB cable or a certified data transfer cable. Some cables are for charging only.
• Check your computer's Device Manager (Windows) or System Information (Mac) to see if the device is listed, even if it's not appearing as a drive.

Low Volume Output

• Increase the volume using the Up navigation button on the device.
• Ensure your headphones are properly plugged in and functioning correctly. Try another pair of headphones if available.
• Check the device's settings for any volume limits or equalizer presets that might be affecting the output. Some regions may have default volume caps.
