2. Key Features

  • Patented LED Ring: Maintains color and brightness uniformity, visible from all sides and angles. Available in red, blue, white, and green.
  • Concentrated Compression Blade (CCB): Engineered to focus the inner weaker circle of air outwards, allowing the outer section to pressurize and compress the air for high static pressure.
  • Wind Blocker Frame: Designed to work with the CCB to reduce blade noise and vibration, balancing power and sound.
  • Hydraulic Bearing: Self-lubricates with a high-quality, friction-reducing substance, lowering operating noise and improving efficiency.
  • Low-Noise Design: Includes a Low-Noise Cable (LNC) to reduce noise levels.
  • Anti-vibration Mounting System: In-mold injection anti-vibration rubber pads provide 80% protection coverage on all four corners.

3. Setup and Installation

This section provides instructions for installing your Thermaltake RIING 120mm LED Case Fan into your computer chassis or radiator.

3.1 Package Contents

  • Thermaltake RIING 120mm LED Case Fan
  • Mounting Screws
  • Low-Noise Cable (LNC)

3.2 Installation Steps

  1. Prepare your System: Ensure your computer is powered off and unplugged from the wall outlet. Open your computer case to access the fan mounting locations.
  2. Identify Mounting Location: Locate an available 120mm fan mounting point in your chassis or on your radiator.
  3. Position the Fan: Place the Thermaltake RIING fan in the desired mounting position. Ensure the airflow direction is correct for your cooling setup (typically intake or exhaust). The fan's frame indicates airflow direction.
  4. Secure the Fan: Use the provided mounting screws to secure the fan to the chassis or radiator. The integrated anti-vibration rubber pads on the fan corners will help reduce noise and vibration.
  5. Connect Power: Connect the fan's 3-pin connector to an available 3-pin fan header on your motherboard or fan controller. If you wish to reduce the fan speed and noise, connect the Low-Noise Cable (LNC) between the fan and the motherboard header.
  6. Cable Management: Route the fan cable neatly to avoid obstructing airflow or other components.
  7. Close Case: Once installation is complete, close your computer case and reconnect power.

4. Operation

Once installed, the Thermaltake RIING fan will operate automatically when your system is powered on. The fan's LED ring will illuminate, providing a distinct visual effect.

4.1 Fan Speed and Noise

The fan operates at a default speed of 1500 R.P.M, producing a noise level of 24.6 dB-A. When the Low-Noise Cable (LNC) is utilized, the fan speed is reduced to 1000 R.P.M, resulting in a lower noise level of 18.7 dB-A. This allows users to balance cooling performance with acoustic preference.

4.2 LED Illumination

The patented LED ring provides consistent and uniform lighting. The fan is available in various LED colors, including red, blue, white, and green, allowing for customization of your system's aesthetics.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance helps ensure optimal performance and longevity of your fan.

  • Dust Removal: Periodically inspect the fan blades and frame for dust accumulation. Use compressed air or a soft brush to gently remove dust. Ensure the fan is powered off before cleaning.
  • Bearing Longevity: The hydraulic bearing is designed for long-term reliability with a life expectation of 40,000 hours at 25℃. No user maintenance is required for the bearing system.
  • Cable Inspection: Occasionally check the fan cable and connectors for any signs of wear or damage.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Thermaltake RIING fan, refer to the following common problems and solutions.

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Fan not spinning, but LED is on.Low-Noise Cable (LNC) causing compatibility issue or insufficient power.Disconnect the LNC and connect the fan directly to the motherboard's 3-pin fan header. Ensure the fan header provides sufficient power.
Fan is excessively noisy.Fan operating at maximum speed; vibration; dust accumulation.Connect the Low-Noise Cable (LNC) to reduce fan speed. Ensure all mounting screws are tightened and the anti-vibration pads are properly seated. Clean any dust from the fan blades.
LED is not illuminating.Loose connection; LED failure.Check the 3-pin power connection to ensure it is securely seated. If the fan spins but the LED does not light up, the LED component may have failed.
