1. Product Overview
The DEWALT D25263K SDS Rotary Hammer Drill is a powerful and versatile tool designed for demanding drilling and chipping applications. It features an 8.5 amp high-performance motor, delivering 3.0 Joules of impact energy for fast and efficient work. Equipped with SHOCKS Active Vibration Control, it significantly reduces vibration felt by the user, enhancing comfort and control during extended use. The tool also includes a rotating brush ring for full power in both forward and reverse, and an integral clutch to minimize sudden, high torque reactions if the bit jams.

4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Powering the Tool
The DEWALT D25263K is a corded electric tool. Ensure it is plugged into a 115 Volt power outlet. Always use an appropriate extension cord if needed, ensuring it is rated for the tool's amperage (8.5 Amps).
4.2 Selecting Operating Mode
The tool features a mode selector switch located on the side of the gear housing. Rotate the switch to select the desired operating mode:
- Drill Mode (Drill icon): For drilling into wood, metal, and plastics without hammer action.
- Hammer Drill Mode (Hammer and Drill icon): For drilling into concrete, masonry, and stone with both rotation and hammer action. This is the most common mode for heavy-duty applications.
- Chisel Mode (Hammer icon): For light chipping, chiseling, and demolition work. The rotation is disengaged, allowing only hammer action.

4.3 Starting and Stopping the Tool
To start the tool, press the trigger switch. The speed is variable depending on how far the trigger is pressed. To stop the tool, release the trigger switch. For continuous operation, press the lock-on button while the trigger is depressed. To release the lock-on, press the trigger fully and then release it.
4.4 Forward and Reverse Operation
The forward/reverse switch is located above the trigger. Push the switch to the left for forward rotation (drilling) and to the right for reverse rotation (for removing jammed bits or screws). Always ensure the tool has come to a complete stop before changing the direction of rotation.

5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your tool. Always disconnect the tool from the power supply before performing any maintenance.
- Cleaning: Keep the ventilation slots clear and clean. Use a soft brush or dry cloth to remove dust and debris. Do not use water or chemical cleaning agents.
- Lubrication: The tool is factory-lubricated and does not require additional lubrication under normal use.
- Carbon Brushes: The carbon brushes are designed for long life and are typically self-disconnecting when worn. Replacement should be performed by a qualified service technician.
- Cord Inspection: Regularly inspect the power cord for damage. If damaged, have it replaced by a qualified service technician to avoid hazards.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your DEWALT D25263K, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:
- Tool does not start: Check if the power cord is securely plugged into a live outlet. Ensure the trigger switch is fully depressed and the lock-on button (if engaged) is released.
- Loss of power or intermittent operation: Inspect the power cord for any visible damage. Ensure the extension cord (if used) is of adequate gauge and length.
- Excessive vibration or unusual noise: Stop operation immediately. Check if the bit is correctly inserted and secured. If the issue persists, discontinue use and contact customer support.
- Bit not rotating or hammering: Verify the mode selector switch is set to the correct position (Drill, Hammer Drill, or Chisel). Ensure the bit is not jammed.
For persistent problems or internal component issues, do not attempt repairs yourself. Contact a DEWALT authorized service center.
