Setup: Refilling Your Lighter
Your Eagle Torch Lighter is shipped empty due to safety regulations. It requires butane fuel (not included) for operation. Always use high-quality butane fuel for optimal performance and longevity.
- Prepare the Lighter: Turn the lighter upside down. Ensure the flame adjustment is set to the lowest setting (usually indicated by a minus sign or '–').
- Bleed the Lighter (Optional but Recommended): Before refilling, it is recommended to release any residual air from the fuel tank. Use a small, pointed tool (like a small screwdriver or pen tip) to press the refill valve located at the bottom of the lighter. Hold for a few seconds until no more gas escapes. This prevents air pockets that can hinder proper refilling.
- Refill: Hold the lighter upside down. Firmly press the nozzle of the butane fuel can into the refill valve. Apply firm, steady pressure for 5-10 seconds. You may need to repeat this 2-3 times to ensure a full fill.
- Wait: After refilling, wait at least 2-3 minutes before attempting to ignite the lighter. This allows the butane to reach room temperature and stabilize.
Note: Refill in a well-ventilated area, away from any open flames or ignition sources.
Operating Instructions
- Unlock (if applicable): Some models may have a safety lock. If present, slide the lock switch to the "unlocked" position.
- Ignite: Hold the lighter away from your face and clothing. Press the ignition button/trigger firmly. A single torch flame should appear.
- Extinguish: Release the ignition button/trigger to extinguish the flame. Ensure the flame is completely out before storing.
- Lock (if applicable): For safety, slide the lock switch back to the "locked" position when not in use.
Flame Adjustment
The flame height can be adjusted to suit your needs. Locate the flame adjustment dial or screw, usually found on the bottom of the lighter near the refill valve.
- Turn towards the '+' (plus) sign for a larger flame.
- Turn towards the '-' (minus) sign for a smaller flame.
Caution: Do not set the flame too high, as this can be dangerous and consume fuel rapidly. Avoid adjusting the flame while the lighter is ignited.
Maintenance
- Cleaning: Periodically wipe the lighter with a soft, dry cloth to remove dirt and grime. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Fuel Quality: Always use premium quality butane fuel. Low-quality butane can clog the lighter's jets and affect performance.
- Storage: Store the lighter in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Ensure it is empty of fuel if storing for extended periods.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Lighter does not ignite or has a weak flame. | Low or no butane fuel. Air trapped in the fuel tank. Clogged burner nozzle. | Refill with high-quality butane. Bleed the lighter before refilling. If clogged, try gently blowing compressed air through the nozzle (from a safe distance). |
| Flame is inconsistent or sputters. | Low fuel level. Air in the tank. Low-quality butane. | Refill the lighter. Bleed the lighter. Use premium butane fuel. |
| Lighter leaks fuel. | Overfilled. Damaged refill valve. | Ensure not to overfill. If the valve is damaged, discontinue use and replace the lighter. |
