Software Installation:
The Midiplus AKM320 is a plug-and-play device, meaning it does not require specific driver installation for basic functionality on computers running Mac OS X or Windows XP and above. It will be recognized automatically by your operating system.
For advanced functionality and to utilize the controller with Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs), refer to your DAW's documentation for MIDI device setup instructions.
Operating the Controller
Playing the Keys:
- The 32 mini-keys are velocity-sensitive, meaning the volume and timbre of the sound produced will vary based on how hard or soft you press the keys.
Using the Control Wheels and Buttons:
- Pitch Wheel: Move this wheel up or down to bend the pitch of the notes being played. It typically springs back to the center position.
- Modulation Wheel: Move this wheel to add modulation effects, such as vibrato, to the sound.
- Volume Slider: Adjust this slider to control the overall output volume of the MIDI signal.
- Octave Buttons (Up & Down): Use these buttons to shift the entire keyboard's range up or down in octaves, allowing access to a wider range of notes than the physical keys provide.
- Transpose Buttons (Up & Down): These buttons allow you to shift the pitch of the notes in semitone increments, useful for playing in different keys without changing your finger positions.
Sustain Pedal Input:
- Connect a standard sustain pedal (not included) to the Sustain Switch interface on the rear of the controller. This will allow you to sustain notes, similar to a piano's sustain pedal.

Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Midiplus AKM320, follow these maintenance guidelines:
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe down the surface of the controller. Avoid using abrasive cleaners, solvents, or waxes, as these can damage the finish.
- Storage: Store the controller in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and high humidity. When not in use, it is recommended to cover the keys to prevent dust accumulation.
- Handling: Handle the controller with care. Avoid dropping it or subjecting it to strong impacts, which can damage internal components or the keys.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Midiplus AKM320, try the following troubleshooting steps:
- No Power/Not Recognized:
- Ensure the USB cable is securely connected to both the controller and your computer.
- Try connecting to a different USB port on your computer.
- Test with a different USB cable if available.
- Restart your computer.
- Keys Not Responding:
- Verify that the controller is recognized by your operating system and DAW.
- Check your DAW's MIDI input settings to ensure the AKM320 is enabled and correctly configured.
- Ensure that the correct instrument track is selected and armed for recording in your DAW.
- Incorrect Pitch/Octave:
- Use the Octave Up/Down buttons to adjust the keyboard's octave range.
