Belt Replacement (Setup & Installation)

Follow these steps to replace the drive belt on your Eureka AS-2000 Series upright vacuum cleaner.

  1. Prepare the Vacuum: Unplug the vacuum cleaner from the power outlet. Lay the vacuum cleaner flat on its front side, exposing the underside of the brush roll housing.
  2. Remove the Bottom Plate: Locate the screws holding the bottom plate (also known as the sole plate or brush roll cover) in place. Use a screwdriver to remove these screws and carefully lift off the bottom plate. Set the screws and plate aside in a safe place.
  3. Remove the Brush Roll: Gently lift the brush roll out of its housing. The old belt will likely be wrapped around the brush roll or the motor shaft.
  4. Remove the Old Belt: Carefully remove the old, broken, or stretched belt from both the brush roll and the motor shaft. Dispose of the old belt properly.
  5. Install the New Belt: Take one of the new Eureka AS-2000 Series Long Life Belts (Part No. 83797). First, loop the new belt around the motor shaft. Then, stretch the belt and loop it around the brush roll. Ensure the belt is centered on both the motor shaft and the brush roll.
  6. Reinstall the Brush Roll: Place the brush roll back into its housing, ensuring that the ends of the brush roll fit correctly into their designated slots. Rotate the brush roll manually a few times to confirm the belt is properly seated and moves freely.
  7. Reattach the Bottom Plate: Position the bottom plate back onto the vacuum cleaner, aligning it with the screw holes. Secure it with the screws removed in Step 2. Do not overtighten the screws.
  8. Test the Vacuum: Stand the vacuum upright, plug it into a power outlet, and turn it on briefly to ensure the brush roll spins correctly and the new belt is functioning as expected.
