Product Overview
Front Panel

- POWER Button: Press to turn the amplifier on or off.
- Power Indicator LED: Illuminates when the amplifier is powered on.
- Crossover Knob: Adjusts the low-pass filter frequency from 50Hz to 150Hz. This determines the upper frequency limit for the subwoofer.
- Sub Volume Knob: Controls the output volume level of the subwoofer.
Rear Panel

- INPUT (LFE / RCA): Connects to your audio source (e.g., home audio receiver). Use the LFE input for a dedicated subwoofer output from your receiver, or the RCA inputs for a stereo line-level signal.
- NORMAL / LFE Switch: Selects the input mode. In LFE mode, the amplifier bypasses its internal crossover, relying on the receiver's crossover. In Normal mode, the amplifier's Crossover knob is active.
- OUTPUT (Raw Wire Speaker Terminals): Connects to your passive subwoofer using raw speaker wire. Ensure correct polarity (+ to + and - to -).
- FUSE 3A / 250V: Replace only with a fuse of the same type and rating.
- AC 18V-2200mA: Power input for the included AC adapter.
Setup
Follow these steps to connect your WS1005 amplifier to your audio system.
- Connect Passive Subwoofer: Using CL3 rated in-wall certified raw speaker wire, connect your passive subwoofer to the OUTPUT terminals on the rear of the WS1005 amplifier. Ensure that the positive (+) terminal on the amplifier connects to the positive (+) terminal on the subwoofer, and the negative (-) terminal on the amplifier connects to the negative (-) terminal on the subwoofer.
- Connect to Audio Source:
- For LFE Output (Dedicated Subwoofer Output from Receiver): Connect an RCA cable from your home audio receiver's LFE or Subwoofer Output to the LFE IN input on the WS1005. Set the NORMAL / LFE switch to LFE.
- For Stereo Line-Level Output (RCA from Receiver): Connect an RCA cable from your home audio receiver's stereo line-level outputs (e.g., pre-out) to the RCA INPUTS (L/R) on the WS1005. Set the NORMAL / LFE switch to NORMAL.
- Connect Power: Plug the included power adapter into the AC 18V-2200mA input on the rear of the amplifier, then plug the adapter into a standard wall outlet.
- Initial Power On: Press the POWER button on the front panel. The power indicator LED should illuminate.
Operating Instructions
Once connected, you can adjust the amplifier's settings for optimal audio performance.
- Power On/Off: Use the POWER button on the front panel to turn the unit on or off.
- Sub Volume Adjustment: Rotate the Sub Volume knob to increase or decrease the subwoofer's output level. Start at a low setting and gradually increase to your desired level.
- Crossover Frequency Adjustment (Normal Mode Only): If the NORMAL / LFE switch is set to NORMAL, rotate the Crossover knob to set the upper frequency limit for the subwoofer. This allows you to blend the subwoofer's output seamlessly with your main speakers. If the switch is set to LFE, this knob is bypassed.
- Input Mode Selection: Use the NORMAL / LFE switch on the rear panel to select the appropriate input mode based on your receiver's output.
Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and proper functioning of your amplifier:
- Keep the unit clean by wiping it with a soft, dry cloth.
- Avoid exposing the amplifier to excessive moisture or direct sunlight.
- Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit to prevent overheating.
- Do not attempt to service the unit yourself. Refer to qualified service personnel for any repairs.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No power / Power LED off | Power adapter not connected; Power outlet not active; Blown fuse. | Ensure power adapter is securely connected and plugged into a working outlet. Check the fuse on the rear panel and replace if necessary with a 3A/250V fuse. |
| No sound from subwoofer | Incorrect input connection; Subwoofer wires reversed; Volume too low; Incorrect LFE/NORMAL switch setting. | Verify RCA/LFE input cable is connected correctly. Check subwoofer wire polarity. Increase Sub Volume. Ensure LFE/NORMAL switch matches your receiver's output. |
| Low or weak bass output | Sub Volume too low; Crossover set too low (in NORMAL mode); LFE/NORMAL switch incorrect. | Increase Sub Volume. Adjust Crossover frequency higher (in NORMAL mode). Ensure LFE/NORMAL switch is set correctly. |
| Popping sound when powering on/off | Normal operational characteristic for some amplifiers. | This may be a normal characteristic. Ensure all connections are secure. |
