  • Connect and disconnect battery clamps only when the charger is unplugged from the power outlet.
  • Connect the positive (red) clamp to the positive (+) battery terminal and the negative (black) clamp to the negative (-) battery terminal.
  • If charging a battery installed in a vehicle, connect the negative clamp to the vehicle chassis away from the battery and fuel line, if applicable.
  • Do not attempt to charge frozen batteries.
  • Keep the charger away from water, rain, or excessive moisture.
  • Do not operate the charger if it has received a sharp blow, been dropped, or otherwise damaged.
  • This charger is designed for 12V lead-acid batteries only. Do not use it for other battery types.
  • Keep out of reach of children.

  2. Prepare the Battery: Ensure the battery terminals are clean and free of corrosion. If necessary, clean them with a wire brush.

  4. Identify Controls: Familiarize yourself with the ammeter, the 50A engine start setting, the 10A fast charge setting, and the 2A slow charge setting switches.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1. Charging a Battery

  1. Connect Clamps:
    • Connect the red (+) clamp to the positive (+) terminal of the battery.
    • Connect the black (-) clamp to the negative (-) terminal of the battery.
    • If the battery is in a vehicle: Connect the red (+) clamp to the positive (+) battery terminal. Connect the black (-) clamp to a metal part of the vehicle chassis, away from the battery and fuel line.
  2. Select Charge Rate: Use the selector switches on the front panel to choose the desired charge rate:
    • 10 A (Fast Charge): For quicker charging of larger batteries.
    • 2 A (Slow Charge): For smaller batteries or for maintaining a charge over a longer period.
  3. Plug In Charger: Once the clamps are securely connected and the charge rate is selected, plug the charger into a standard 120V AC power outlet.
  4. Monitor Charging: Observe the ammeter. The needle will indicate the charging current. As the battery charges, the current will gradually decrease.

Note: If the battery is damaged, the charger will not supply current, and the ammeter indicator will not move. This is a safety feature.

  5. Disconnect Charger: Once charging is complete (ammeter reads near zero or battery is fully charged), first unplug the charger from the AC power outlet. Then, disconnect the black (-) clamp, followed by the red (+) clamp.

4.2. Using the Engine Start Function (50 A)

The 50A engine start function provides a quick burst of power to help start a vehicle with a weak battery. It is not intended for charging a completely dead battery.

  1. Connect Clamps: Connect the red (+) clamp to the positive (+) battery terminal and the black (-) clamp to the negative (-) battery terminal (or vehicle chassis if in a vehicle).
  2. Select Engine Start: Set the selector switch to 50 A (Arranque de motor).
  3. Plug In Charger: Plug the charger into a standard 120V AC power outlet.
  4. Start Vehicle: Attempt to start the vehicle. Do not crank the engine for more than 5 seconds. If the vehicle does not start, wait a few minutes before trying again.
  5. Disconnect Charger: Once the vehicle starts, immediately unplug the charger from the AC power outlet. Then, disconnect the black (-) clamp, followed by the red (+) clamp.

5. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Keep the charger clean and dry. Wipe the exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use solvents or abrasive cleaners.
  • Cable Inspection: Regularly inspect the power cord and battery cables for any signs of damage, cuts, or fraying. Replace damaged cables immediately.
  • Storage: Store the charger in a cool, dry place when not in use. Ensure the cables are neatly coiled and the clamps are not touching each other or any metal surfaces.
  • Ventilation: Ensure the ventilation openings on the charger are clear of dust and debris to prevent overheating.
