Introduction

Thank you for choosing the My Weigh THE MAESTRO SCMMAESTRO Digital Kitchen Scale. This precision instrument is designed for accurate weighing in various applications, from culinary tasks to postal measurements. Featuring a unique two-in-one design with a large main platform and a retractable mini scale, it offers versatility and high precision for both large and small items. Please read this manual thoroughly to ensure proper setup, operation, and maintenance of your scale.

Setup

1. Unboxing and Initial Assembly

Carefully remove all components from the packaging. The scale consists of a main base unit and a stainless steel weighing platform. The weighing platform has pins on its underside that fit into corresponding holes on the top of the scale's base. Gently align the pins with the holes and press down to secure the platform.

2. Powering the Scale

The scale can be powered by either the included AC adapter or three AAA batteries (not included). For prolonged use or when precise measurements are critical, using the AC adapter is recommended to prevent automatic power-off due to battery conservation.

  • Using the AC Adapter: Plug the AC adapter into the scale's power port and then into a standard electrical outlet.
  • Using Batteries: Open the battery compartment on the underside of the scale and insert three AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity.

3. Turning On/Off

To turn the scale on, press the TARE/ON/OFF button once. The backlit LCD will illuminate and display a countdown before settling at '0.000'. To turn the scale off, press and hold the TARE/ON/OFF button until the display turns off.

Operating Instructions

1. Selecting Units of Measurement

The scale supports multiple units of measurement: grams (g), kilograms (kg), pounds (lb), ounces (oz), pounds:ounces (lb:oz), carats (ct), pennyweights (dwt), and troy ounces (ozt). To cycle through the available units, press the MODE button repeatedly until your desired unit is displayed.

2. Using the Tare Function

The Tare function allows you to subtract the weight of a container, so you can weigh only the contents. Place an empty container on the weighing platform. Once the weight stabilizes, press the TARE/ON/OFF button. The display will reset to '0.000', indicating that the container's weight has been tared. You can now add your ingredients to the container, and the scale will display only the net weight.

3. Utilizing the Retractable Mini Scale

For measuring very small quantities with higher precision (up to 200g with 0.1g accuracy), the Maestro scale features a retractable mini scale. This is ideal for ingredients like spices, yeast, or baking powder that may not register accurately on the main platform.

  • To Access: Gently pull out the small tray located on the right side of the main scale. The mini scale's display will automatically activate.
  • Usage: Place your small container on the mini scale, tare its weight if necessary, and then add your ingredients.
  • To Retract: Push the mini scale back into the main unit when not in use.

4. Baker's Percentage Function

The Baker's Percentage function simplifies baking by calculating ingredient weights as a percentage of the total flour weight. This is particularly useful for scaling recipes.

  • Setup: Place your flour in a container on the main platform and tare the container. Add your flour and note its weight.
  • Activate: Press the % button. The display will show the flour weight as 100%.
  • Add Ingredients: As you add other ingredients, the scale will display their weight as a percentage of the flour's weight.

5. Hold Function

The Hold function allows you to lock the displayed weight on the screen, even after removing the item from the scale. This is useful when weighing large or awkwardly shaped items that might obscure the display.

  • To Activate: Weigh your item. Once the weight stabilizes, press the HOLD button. The weight will remain on the display.
  • To Deactivate: Press the HOLD button again to clear the held weight.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the scale's surface with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the scale in water.
  • Storage: Store the scale in a clean, dry environment. Ensure the mini scale is retracted when not in use.
  • Battery Replacement: If using batteries, replace them when the low battery indicator appears on the display.

Troubleshooting

  • Scale not turning on: Check battery installation or AC adapter connection. Ensure batteries are not depleted.
  • Inaccurate readings: Ensure the scale is on a flat, stable surface. Avoid drafts or vibrations. Recalibrate if necessary (refer to full manual for calibration instructions).
  • Automatic power-off: This is a battery-saving feature. For continuous use, plug in the AC adapter.
