4. Setup Guide

4.1. Inserting Batteries

The Microsoft Designer Bluetooth Desktop requires AAA batteries for operation. Ensure batteries are inserted correctly according to polarity indicators.

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the underside of the keyboard and mouse.
  2. Open the battery compartment cover.
  3. Insert the required AAA batteries (typically 2 for the keyboard, 2 for the mouse), matching the + and - terminals.
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

4.2. Pairing the Devices (Bluetooth Smart)

The Designer Bluetooth Desktop uses Bluetooth Smart technology for wireless connection. Follow these steps to pair your devices:

  1. Enable Bluetooth on Your Device: Ensure Bluetooth is turned on on your computer, tablet, or smartphone.
  2. Put Keyboard in Pairing Mode: On the underside of the keyboard, locate and press the Bluetooth pairing button. The LED indicator on the keyboard should start blinking, indicating it's in pairing mode.
  3. Put Mouse in Pairing Mode: On the underside of the mouse, locate and press the Bluetooth pairing button. The LED indicator on the mouse should start blinking.
  4. Search for Devices: On your computer or device, go to Bluetooth settings and search for new devices.
  5. Select and Connect: Select "Microsoft Bluetooth Keyboard" and "Microsoft Bluetooth Mouse" from the list of available devices. Follow any on-screen prompts to complete the pairing process.
  6. Confirmation: Once successfully paired, the LED indicators on the keyboard and mouse will stop blinking and remain solid or turn off, depending on the model.
