3. Setup

  1. Prepare the Vegetable: Select firm vegetables such as zucchini, carrots, radishes, cucumbers, potatoes, or beetroots. Ensure the vegetable diameter is up to 6 cm (approximately 2.36 inches). For best results, cut the ends of the vegetable flat.
  2. Attach the Finger Guard: If desired, attach the finger guard to the end of the vegetable. The three stainless steel pins will secure the vegetable, providing a safe grip and minimizing waste.

4.1. Spiralizing Process

  1. Insert Vegetable: Place the prepared vegetable into the desired opening of the spiralizer.
  2. Twist and Turn: Hold the spiralizer firmly with one hand and the vegetable (or finger guard) with the other. Apply gentle pressure and twist the vegetable clockwise, similar to sharpening a pencil.
  3. Collect Spirals: Continuous julienne strips will emerge from the other end of the spiralizer. Collect them in a bowl.
  4. Use Finger Guard: As the vegetable shortens, use the finger guard to push the remaining piece through the blades safely.

5. Maintenance and Cleaning

Proper cleaning ensures the longevity and hygiene of your spiralizer.

  • Immediate Cleaning: Clean the spiralizer immediately after use to prevent food particles from drying and sticking to the blades.
  • Dishwasher Safe: The GEFU Spirelli 2.0 is dishwasher safe. Place it on the top rack for best results.
  • Hand Washing: For hand washing, use warm, soapy water and a brush to carefully remove any trapped food from the blades. Exercise caution as the blades are very sharp.
  • Drying: Ensure all parts are thoroughly dry before storing.

Note: The product specifications state "Is the item dishwasher safe?: No" while feature bullets state "-Dishwasher-safe". For safety and product longevity, it is recommended to hand wash the item, especially the blades, to preserve their sharpness. If using a dishwasher, use a gentle cycle and place on the top rack.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Difficulty Spiralizing:
    • Ensure the vegetable is firm. Softer vegetables like ripe tomatoes are not suitable.
    • Cut the ends of the vegetable flat and straight for better engagement with the blades.
    • Apply consistent, gentle pressure while twisting.
  • Vegetable Not Centered:
    • Use the finger guard to help center and stabilize the vegetable.
    • Ensure the vegetable diameter is appropriate (up to 6 cm).
  • Food Stuck in Blades:
    • Immediately after use, rinse the spiralizer under running water.
    • Use a small brush (like a bottle brush or a dedicated cleaning brush) to dislodge any trapped food particles. Avoid using fingers directly on the blades.
