4. Product Overview

4.1 Front Panel Controls
- Display: Shows current time, radio station, track information, and menu options.
- CD Tray: Slot for inserting audio CDs or MP3 CDs.
- Power Button: Turns the unit on/off or switches to standby.
- Volume +/- Buttons: Adjusts the audio output level.

5. Setup
5.1 Mounting the Unit
The Soundmaster UR 2170SI is designed for under-cabinet installation. Ensure the mounting surface is sturdy and can support the weight of the unit.
- Positioning: Choose a suitable location under a cabinet, ensuring enough space for CD insertion and button access.
- Template: Use the provided mounting template to mark the screw positions on the underside of the cabinet.
- Drilling: Drill pilot holes at the marked positions.
- Attaching Spacers: If necessary, attach the provided spacers to the unit or cabinet to ensure proper clearance.
- Securing: Align the unit with the pilot holes and secure it using the provided screws. Do not overtighten.

5.2 Power Connection
Connect the provided power adapter to the DC IN jack on the rear of the unit, then plug the adapter into a wall outlet.
5.3 Antenna Connection
Connect the external antenna to the 75 Ohm antenna input on the rear of the unit. Extend the antenna fully for optimal DAB+ and FM reception.
5.4 Initial Power-On and Settings
- Press the Power button to turn on the unit.
- The unit may prompt you to select a language or perform an initial DAB scan. Follow the on-screen instructions.
- Setting Time/Date: If not automatically set by DAB, navigate to the system settings menu (refer to the full manual for detailed menu navigation) to manually set the time and date.
6. Operating Instructions
6.1 Radio Operation (DAB+/FM)
- Press the FUNC button repeatedly to select DAB or FM mode.
- DAB Auto Scan: In DAB mode, the unit will typically perform an auto scan upon first use or if no stations are found. To manually initiate a scan, refer to the system menu.
- FM Auto Scan: In FM mode, press and hold the Skip Forward/Backward buttons to auto-scan for the next available station.
- Manual Tuning: Briefly press the Skip Forward/Backward buttons to fine-tune the frequency.
- Saving Presets: Tune to your desired station. Press and hold the MEM button, then use the P+/- buttons to select a preset number. Press MEM again to confirm.
- Recalling Presets: Briefly press the P+/- buttons to cycle through saved presets.
6.2 CD/MP3 Playback
- Press the FUNC button to select CD mode.
- Gently insert a CD (audio CD or MP3 CD) into the CD tray with the label side facing up. The unit will automatically load the disc.
- Playback should start automatically. If not, press the Play/Pause button.
- Use the Skip Forward/Backward buttons to navigate between tracks.
- For MP3 CDs with folders, use the Folder +/- buttons (if available on the unit or remote) to navigate between folders.
- Press the Stop button to stop playback.
6.3 USB Playback
- Insert a USB storage device (e.g., USB flash drive) containing MP3 files into the USB port on the front of the unit.
- Press the FUNC button to select USB mode.
- The unit will read the USB device and begin playback.
- Use the Playback Control buttons (Play/Pause, Stop, Skip Forward/Backward) to manage playback.
- Use the Folder +/- buttons (if available) to navigate through folders on the USB device.
6.4 Alarm and Timer Functions
The unit includes two independent alarms (AL1, AL2) and a sleep timer.
- Setting Alarms: Press and hold the AL1 or AL2 button. Use the Volume +/- or Skip buttons to set the alarm time, alarm source (Buzzer, DAB, FM, CD, USB), and alarm volume. Press the AL button again to confirm each setting.
- Activating/Deactivating Alarms: Briefly press the AL1 or AL2 button to toggle the alarm on or off. An alarm icon will appear on the display when active.
- Sleep Timer: Press the Timer button repeatedly to cycle through available sleep timer durations (e.g., 15, 30, 60, 90 minutes, OFF). The unit will automatically turn off after the selected time.
6.5 Remote Control
The included remote control provides convenient access to all major functions.

- Battery Installation: Open the battery compartment on the back of the remote and insert 2x AAA batteries (not included), observing polarity.

7. Maintenance
- Cleaning the Unit: Wipe the exterior of the unit with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents.
- CD Player Care: Handle CDs by their edges. If a CD is dirty, wipe it gently with a soft, dry cloth from the center outwards. Do not use scratched or damaged CDs.
