2. Setup
2.1 Hard Drive Installation
- Gently slide open the rear panel of the Inateck FE3001 enclosure to reveal the internal tray.
- Align your 2.5-inch or 3.5-inch SATA I/II/III HDD/SSD with the SATA connector on the internal tray. Ensure the drive is oriented correctly and firmly push it into the connector until it is securely seated.
- Use the provided screws and screwdriver to secure the hard drive to the internal tray. There are screw holes on the sides of the tray for this purpose.
- Carefully slide the internal tray with the installed hard drive back into the aluminum enclosure until the rear panel clicks into place.
- Optionally, attach the provided rubber feet to the bottom of the enclosure for added stability and shock absorption.

3. Operating
3.1 Connecting to Your Computer
- Connect the 12V/2A power adapter to the DC 12V input port on the rear of the enclosure and plug it into a power outlet.
- Connect one end of the provided USB 3.0 data cable to the USB 3.0 port on the enclosure and the other end to an available USB 3.0 port on your computer.
- Turn on the power switch located on the rear of the enclosure. The power indicator light will illuminate.
- The enclosure is plug-and-play and supports hot-swap, meaning no drivers are typically needed for Windows XP/Vista/7/8/8.1/10, Linux/Android, and Mac OS 10.3 and higher. Your operating system should automatically detect the new drive.
- If it's a new drive, you may need to initialize and format it through your operating system's Disk Management (Windows) or Disk Utility (macOS) before it appears in 'My Computer' or 'Finder'.

4. Maintenance
4.1 Care and Cleaning
To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Inateck FE3001 enclosure, follow these care and cleaning guidelines:
- Keep the enclosure in a clean, dry environment away from excessive dust, moisture, and extreme temperatures.
- To clean the exterior, use a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. For stubborn smudges, a slightly damp cloth can be used, but ensure no liquid enters the ports or internal components.
- Avoid blocking the ventilation slots on the enclosure to maintain proper airflow and heat dissipation.
- Do not attempt to disassemble the enclosure beyond installing/removing the hard drive, as this may void the warranty and cause damage.

5. Troubleshooting
5.1 Common Issues and Solutions
- Drive Not Recognized:
- Ensure the power adapter is securely connected and the enclosure is powered on.
- Verify the USB cable is properly connected to both the enclosure and a functioning USB port on your computer. Try a different USB port.
- For new drives, access Disk Management (Windows) or Disk Utility (macOS) to initialize and format the drive.
- Check the hard drive's connection inside the enclosure; ensure it is firmly seated in the SATA connector.
- Test the enclosure with a different known-good hard drive, or test the hard drive in another enclosure/system to isolate the issue.
- Slow Data Transfer Speeds:
- Ensure you are connected to a USB 3.0 port on your computer. USB 2.0 ports will result in significantly slower speeds.
- Verify that your operating system and drivers support USB 3.0 and UASP (if using an SSD).
- Avoid transferring many small files simultaneously, as this can inherently slow down transfer rates compared to large files.
- Enclosure Disconnects Randomly:
- Ensure the power adapter is providing stable power. Avoid using uncertified or low-quality power adapters.
- Check the USB cable for damage or loose connections. Try a different USB cable.
- Ensure your computer's USB ports are not entering a power-saving mode. Adjust power settings in your operating system.
