1. Introduction
The Electro-Harmonix Nano POG is a compact polyphonic octave generator pedal designed to add sub-octave and octave-up harmonies to your instrument's signal. It features a new algorithm for superior tracking and sound quality, allowing for seamless polyphonic performance.
This manual provides detailed instructions for setting up, operating, and maintaining your Nano POG pedal, along with troubleshooting tips and product specifications.
2. Key Features
- Polyphonic Tracking: Tracks chords, sweeps, or single notes with precision and no glitches.
- Independent Volume Controls: Adjustable volumes for original dry signal, one octave up, and one octave down.
- Dry Output: Dedicated output for the dry signal, allowing for flexible routing options.
- Silent Footswitching: Ensures quiet operation when engaging or disengaging the effect.
- Compact Design: Housed in a durable die-cast chassis, suitable for pedalboards.
- Versatile Sound Creation: Capable of producing sounds ranging from a 12-string guitar to a bass, or organ-like tones.
3. Setup and Connections
Before connecting your Nano POG, ensure all audio equipment is turned off to prevent damage.
3.1 Power Supply
The Nano POG requires a 9V DC power supply (center-positive). It can also be powered by a 9V battery, though a power adapter is recommended for consistent performance.
3.2 Connecting Your Pedal
- Connect your instrument (e.g., guitar) to the INPUT jack on the right side of the pedal using a standard 1/4-inch instrument cable.
- Connect the EFFECT OUT jack on the left side of the pedal to your amplifier or next effect pedal in the signal chain.
- (Optional) For a separate dry signal, connect the DRY OUT jack to another amplifier or mixer input.
- Connect the 9V DC power supply to the 9V power input.

4. Operating Instructions
The Nano POG features three primary control knobs and a footswitch for intuitive operation.
4.1 Control Knobs
- SUB OCTAVE: Controls the volume of the signal one octave below the original note. Turn clockwise to increase the sub-octave volume.
- DRY: Controls the volume of the original, unprocessed instrument signal. Turn clockwise to increase the dry signal volume.
- OCTAVE UP: Controls the volume of the signal one octave above the original note. Turn clockwise to increase the octave-up volume.
4.2 Footswitch
The footswitch engages or bypasses the octave effect. When the effect is active, the LED indicator will illuminate. The footswitch provides silent switching for smooth transitions.

5. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the pedal's exterior. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Storage: Store the pedal in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures when not in use.
- Power: Always disconnect the power supply when the pedal is not in use for extended periods.
- Battery Replacement: If using a battery, replace it when the LED indicator dims or the sound quality degrades. Access the battery compartment by removing the four screws on the bottom plate.
6. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No sound when pedal is engaged. | Incorrect connections, dead battery, faulty cable, DRY knob turned down. | Check all cable connections. Replace battery or use power adapter. Test with different cables. Increase DRY knob volume. |
| Poor tracking or glitches. | Input signal too weak/strong, old strings, playing technique. | Ensure proper input level. Use fresh strings. Practice clean playing technique. |
| Unwanted noise/hum. | Ground loop, faulty power supply, interference. | Use an isolated power supply. Try a different power outlet. Ensure proper grounding. |
