Setup
1. Assembly
- Attach the guard to the cutting head following the instructions provided in the packaging.
- Securely attach the secondary handle to the telescopic pole. Adjust its position for comfortable use.

2. Battery Installation and Charging
- Ensure the battery is fully charged using the supplied charger. Charging time is approximately 3 hours.
- Slide the charged 18V Li-Ion battery into the battery compartment until it clicks into place.
- To remove the battery, press the release button and slide it out.

3. Adjusting the Telescopic Pole
The telescopic pole can be adjusted by 200 mm to provide a comfortable working height. Loosen the locking mechanism, extend or retract the pole to the desired length, and then secure the locking mechanism.
Operating Instructions
1. Starting and Stopping
- To start the trimmer, press the safety lock-off button and then squeeze the trigger switch.
- To stop the trimmer, release the trigger switch.
2. Trimming Grass
Hold the trimmer firmly with both hands. Swing the trimmer from side to side, keeping the cutting head slightly above the ground. The E-Drive technology provides increased torque for faster cutting, especially in tougher grass.

3. Edging Function
The trimmer features a precise edging function with a guide wheel for clean, V-shaped edges. To switch to edging mode, rotate the head of the trimmer 90 degrees. Use the guide wheel to maintain a consistent cutting depth along paths and flowerbeds.

4. Line Feed
This model uses a single line feed system for efficiency. The HDL spool is designed for cutting tougher grass and offers increased line durability. Replacement spools and 10-thread HDL refills are available.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your trimmer.
- Cleaning: After each use, disconnect the battery and clean the trimmer with a damp cloth. Remove any grass clippings or debris from the cutting head and guard. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Line Replacement: When the cutting line wears down, replace the spool with a genuine BLACK+DECKER HDL spool or compatible standard spool. Refer to the product packaging for specific replacement instructions.
- Storage: Store the trimmer in a dry, well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Ensure the battery is removed before long-term storage.
