3. Setup and Installation

3.1 Unpacking

  • Remove all packaging materials, including the foam base and adhesive tape holding accessories.
  • Inspect the refrigerator for any damage during transit. Report any damage to your retailer immediately.

3.2 Placement

  • Place the refrigerator on a flat, solid surface strong enough to support it when fully loaded.
  • Allow at least 5 inches (12.7 cm) of space between the back and sides of the refrigerator and any adjacent walls to ensure proper air circulation.
  • Avoid placing the unit in direct sunlight or near heat sources (e.g., stove, heater).

3.3 Leveling

The refrigerator has adjustable leveling legs. Adjust them to ensure the unit is stable and level. This is crucial for efficient operation and proper door closure.

3.4 Door Reversal

The door hinges are reversible, allowing the door to open from either the left or right side. Refer to the detailed diagram in the full user manual for specific steps on reversing the door swing.

3.5 Initial Power-On

  • After placement, wait at least 2-4 hours before plugging the unit into a power outlet. This allows the refrigerant to settle.
  • Plug the refrigerator into an exclusive, properly grounded 120V, 60Hz AC outlet.
  • Set the thermostat to a medium setting and allow the unit to cool for several hours before placing food inside.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Temperature Control

The refrigerator features an adjustable thermostat located inside the unit, typically near the freezer compartment. Turn the dial to adjust the cooling intensity:

  • 1 (Min): Least cold setting.
  • 7 (Max): Coldest setting.
  • A setting between 3 and 5 is generally recommended for normal use.

Adjust the setting based on ambient temperature and how much food is stored. Allow several hours for the temperature to stabilize after adjustment.

  • In-Door Rack: Suitable for taller bottles and larger items.
  • Freezer Compartment: Use for frozen foods. Note that this is a manual defrost freezer.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning

Always unplug the refrigerator before cleaning.

  • Interior: Wash interior surfaces with a solution of two tablespoons of baking soda to one quart of warm water. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
  • Exterior: Clean the exterior with a mild detergent and warm water. Wipe dry with a soft cloth.
  • Door Gasket: Clean the door gasket regularly to ensure a proper seal.
  • Do not use harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, or scouring pads.

5.2 Manual Defrost

The freezer compartment requires manual defrosting when frost accumulation reaches approximately 1/4 inch (0.6 cm) thick.

  1. Turn the thermostat to the OFF position and unplug the unit.
  2. Remove all food items from the freezer and refrigerator compartments. Place frozen items in a cooler to maintain temperature.
  3. Leave the door open to allow frost to melt naturally. Place towels at the bottom to absorb water.
  4. Do not use sharp objects or heating devices to remove frost, as this can damage the cooling system.
  5. Once defrosted, clean and dry the interior thoroughly.
  6. Plug the unit back in and reset the thermostat. Allow it to cool for a few hours before returning food.

5.3 Power Outage

In case of a power outage, keep the refrigerator door closed as much as possible to maintain internal temperature. Most food will remain frozen for 1-2 days if the door is kept shut.
