2. Inserting the Battery and Memory Card

  1. Open the Battery/Memory Card Cover: Locate the cover on the bottom of the camera. Slide the latch to open it.
  2. Insert the Battery: Insert the rechargeable Li-ion battery (EN-EL19) into the battery compartment with the correct orientation, ensuring the terminals align. Push until it clicks into place.
  3. Insert the Memory Card: Insert an SD, SDHC, or SDXC memory card into the card slot with the label facing the front of the camera. Push until it clicks.
  4. Close the Cover: Close the battery/memory card cover and slide the latch until it locks securely.

3. Charging the Battery

Before initial use, fully charge the battery.

  1. Connect the camera to the Charging AC Adapter using the supplied USB cable.
  2. Plug the AC adapter into a power outlet. The charge lamp will light up.
  3. Charging is complete when the charge lamp turns off. Disconnect the camera from the adapter.

  4. Focus: Press the shutter-release button halfway down. The camera will automatically focus, and the focus lamp will light up.
  5. Shoot: Press the shutter-release button all the way down to take the picture.
