3. Setup
3.1 Attaching the Lens to the Camera
- Ensure both the camera and lens are clean and free of dust.
- Align the red mounting index on the lens barrel with the red mounting index on the camera body.
- Turn the lens clockwise until it clicks into place, indicating it is securely locked.
3.2 Attaching the Lens Hood
The included lens hood helps to block excess light and reduce flare, improving image quality.
- Align the red dot on the lens hood with the red dot on the front of the lens.
- Turn the lens hood clockwise until it locks securely.
3.3 Using the Tripod Mount Bracket
The detachable tripod mount bracket provides stable support for the lens, especially useful for long exposures or when using a tripod/monopod.
- Attach the tripod mount bracket to the designated area on the lens barrel.
- Ensure the integrated lock mechanism is engaged to prevent accidental detachment.
- Mount your tripod or monopod to the tripod mount bracket's screw hole.
4. Operating the Lens
4.1 Autofocus (AF) and Manual Focus (MF)
The lens features a switch to select between Autofocus (AF) and Manual Focus (MF) modes. For precise control, use MF. For quick focusing, use AF.
4.2 Quick Shift Focus System
This system allows for immediate manual focus adjustments even when the camera is set to autofocus. Simply hold the shutter release button halfway down to engage AF, and then turn the focus ring to fine-tune focus manually.
4.3 Focus Range Limiter
To speed up autofocus performance, especially when subjects are at a known distance, utilize the focus range limiter switch. This allows you to restrict the lens's focusing range to one of three sub-ranges, preventing the lens from hunting across its full range.
4.4 Zooming
Rotate the zoom ring on the lens barrel to adjust the focal length between 70mm and 200mm. The lens maintains a constant F2.8 aperture throughout this range.
