Maintenance
1. Cleaning the Camera
- Camera Body: Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, use a cloth lightly dampened with water or a lens cleaner.
- Lens: Use a lens brush to remove dust, then gently wipe with a lens cleaning cloth. Avoid touching the lens surface with your fingers.
- Display: Use a soft, dry cloth. For smudges, use a screen cleaner designed for electronics.
2. Battery Care
- Store batteries in a cool, dry place when not in use.
- Avoid exposing batteries to extreme temperatures.
- Charge the battery fully before extended storage and periodically during storage to prevent deep discharge.
3. Storage
When storing the camera for long periods, remove the battery and memory card. Store the camera in a dry, well-ventilated area, preferably in a camera bag or case to protect it from dust and impact.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Nikon COOLPIX S9900, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
- Camera does not power on: Ensure the battery is fully charged and correctly inserted. Try using a different, fully charged battery if available.
- Images are blurry: Check that the lens is clean and free from smudges. Ensure the camera is in focus (autofocus or manual focus). Use optical image stabilization for handheld shots, especially in low light or with high zoom.
- Wi-Fi/NFC connection issues: Verify that Wi-Fi and NFC are enabled on both the camera and your smart device. Ensure your smart device is within range. Restart both devices and try connecting again.
- Memory card error: Ensure the memory card is inserted correctly. Try formatting the card (this will erase all data, so back up first). If the problem persists, try a different memory card.
- Battery drains quickly: Reduce screen brightness, turn off Wi-Fi/GPS when not in use, and limit continuous video recording. Ensure the battery is not old or damaged.
If these steps do not resolve your issue, please contact Nikon customer support.
