1. Important Safety Information
Always read and understand all instructions before operating this tool. Failure to follow all instructions listed below may result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury.
- Work Area Safety: Keep your work area clean and well-lit. Cluttered or dark areas invite accidents. Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes. Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control.
- Electrical Safety: Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock. Avoid body contact with grounded surfaces such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is grounded. Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock. Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock.
- Personal Safety: Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury. Use personal protective equipment. Always wear eye protection. Protective equipment such as dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries.
- Tool Use and Care: Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed. Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. Any power tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired. Disconnect the plug from the power source before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentally. Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.

3. Setup
3.1 Bit Installation
- Ensure the drill is unplugged from the power source before installing or removing bits.
- Hold the rear half of the chuck and rotate the front half counter-clockwise until the chuck jaws are open wide enough to insert the drill bit.
- Insert the drill bit into the chuck. Ensure the bit is centered and fully seated.
- Rotate the front half of the chuck clockwise to tighten the jaws securely around the bit. Hand-tighten firmly.

3.2 Power Connection
The DR260C is a corded electric drill. Connect the power cord to a standard electrical outlet. For extended reach, a suitable extension cord may be used, ensuring it meets the tool's power requirements.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Powering On/Off and Variable Speed
The drill is activated by pressing the trigger switch. The speed of the drill is controlled by the amount of pressure applied to the trigger. Pressing the trigger lightly will result in a slower speed, while pressing it fully will achieve maximum speed. This variable speed feature allows for precise control during drilling and driving applications.

Figure 4: Demonstrating the variable speed control, which allows users to adjust the drilling speed based on trigger pressure for optimal performance.
4.2 Forward/Reverse Operation
A directional switch, typically located above the trigger, controls the rotation direction of the chuck. Push the switch to the left for forward rotation (for drilling and driving screws) and to the right for reverse rotation (for removing screws or backing out drill bits). Ensure the drill has come to a complete stop before changing the direction of rotation.
4.3 Drilling and Driving Tips
- Always secure your workpiece to prevent movement during operation.
- Start drilling at a slow speed to create a pilot hole or to prevent the bit from walking. Gradually increase speed as needed.
- Apply steady, even pressure. Do not force the drill.
- For driving screws, use the appropriate screwdriver bit and adjust speed to prevent stripping the screw head or over-driving.

Figure 6: The compact design of the DR260C allows for easy maneuverability and use in tight or awkward spaces, such as when working on a fence.
5. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Keep the tool's air vents clean to prevent overheating. Use a clean, dry cloth to wipe down the exterior of the tool. Do not use water or chemical cleaners.
- Cord Care: Regularly inspect the power cord for any signs of damage, cuts, or fraying. If damaged, have it repaired by a qualified service technician. Avoid wrapping the cord too tightly around the tool for storage.
- Storage: Store the drill in a dry, secure location out of reach of children.
6. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Drill does not start. | No power supply; power cord damaged; directional switch in neutral (locked) position. | Check power outlet and cord connection. Ensure directional switch is fully engaged in forward or reverse. |
| Bit slips in chuck. | Chuck not tightened sufficiently; bit shank is dirty or damaged. | Re-tighten chuck firmly. Clean or replace bit. |
| Loss of power during operation. | Overloading the tool; insufficient power supply. | Reduce pressure on the tool. Ensure power supply is adequate (e.g., not using a too-long or thin extension cord). |
