4. Setup and Assembly

Follow these steps to properly set up your honey extractor.

  1. Unpack Components: Carefully remove all parts from the packaging. Verify that all components are present according to the packing list (not provided in this document, refer to product packaging).
  2. Assemble Legs: Attach the legs to the main drum body using the provided hardware. Ensure they are securely fastened. The legs are adjustable; set them to a height that allows a 5-gallon bucket to fit comfortably under the honey gate.
  3. Position Extractor: Place the assembled extractor on a firm, level, and stable surface. For added security, concrete anchors can be used if available and desired.
  4. Install Motor and Lid: Secure the motor assembly and transparent lid to the top of the drum. Ensure all connections are tight and the safety switch for the lid is correctly aligned.
  5. Initial Cleaning: Before first use, clean the interior of the stainless steel drum and frame baskets with warm water and a mild, food-safe detergent. Rinse thoroughly and allow to air dry completely.

5. Operating Instructions

Follow these steps for effective honey extraction.

  1. Prepare Frames: Uncap your honey frames using an uncapping knife or tool. Ensure the frames are free of bees and debris.
  2. Load Frames: Carefully place the uncapped frames into the extractor's baskets. The extractor can hold up to 8 small/medium frames or 4 deep frames. Distribute frames evenly to maintain balance during spinning.
  3. Close Lid: Securely close the transparent lid. The motor will not operate if the lid is open due to the built-in safety mechanism.
  4. Connect Power: Plug the extractor into a standard 120V AC power outlet.
  5. Start Extraction: Turn on the motor. The quiet motor will begin spinning the frames, centrifugally forcing honey out of the combs.
  6. Monitor Process: Observe the extraction through the clear lid. The motor is designed for 30% more stabilization compared to manual extractors, ensuring a smooth process.
  7. Drain Honey: Once honey has been extracted from one side of the frames (for reversible frames, you may need to flip them), open the honey gate at the bottom of the drum. Position a 5-gallon bucket or suitable container underneath to collect the honey. The honey gate is elevated 17.2 inches from the floor and its opening is 0.5 inches above the barrel bottom for efficient draining.
  8. Repeat if Necessary: If using reversible frames, stop the motor, open the lid, flip the frames, close the lid, and resume spinning.
  9. Finish: Once all honey is extracted, turn off the motor and unplug the unit.

  • After Each Use: Immediately after each extraction, clean the drum and frame baskets. Rinse with warm water to remove residual honey. Use a soft brush or cloth with mild, food-safe detergent for thorough cleaning. Avoid abrasive cleaners or scouring pads that could scratch the stainless steel.
  • Rinsing: Rinse all components thoroughly with clean water to remove any soap residue.
  • Drying: Allow all parts to air dry completely before storage to prevent rust or bacterial growth.
  • Motor Care: Keep the motor housing clean and dry. Do not immerse the motor in water.
