Setup

Unpacking and Inspection

Carefully remove the thermometer from its packaging. Inspect the device for any signs of damage. The package should contain:

Battery Installation

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the thermometer.
  2. Slide the cover open in the direction indicated by the arrow.
  3. Insert the two AAA batteries, ensuring the correct polarity (+ and -) as marked inside the compartment.
  4. Close the battery compartment cover until it clicks securely into place.

The thermometer is now ready for initial use.

Operating Instructions

Powering On and Off

  • To power on: Press the ON/SCAN button. The device will perform a self-test and display the last measurement.
  • To power off: The device will automatically shut down after approximately 30 seconds of inactivity to conserve battery life.

Selecting Measurement Mode

The thermometer offers multiple measurement modes: Body, Room, and Surface. Press the MODE button to cycle through these options. Ensure the correct mode is selected for accurate readings.

Temperature Unit Selection (°C/°F)

To switch between Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F), press the °C/°F button. The selected unit will be displayed on the LCD screen.

Taking a Measurement

  1. Ensure the thermometer is in the desired measurement mode (e.g., Body mode for human temperature).
  2. Position the thermometer approximately 3-5 cm (1.2-2 inches) from the center of the forehead for body temperature, or the surface/object for other measurements.
  3. Press and release the ON/SCAN button.
  4. The temperature reading will be displayed on the LCD screen within 1 second.
  5. The device will emit a beep sound upon completion of the measurement.

Fever Alarm and Backlight Indication

The EQ-IF-02 features a color-coded backlight system to indicate temperature status:

  • Green Backlight: Normal temperature (e.g., <99.0°F or <37.3°C).
  • Yellow Backlight: Elevated temperature (e.g., <100.2°F or <37.9°C).
  • Red Backlight: High temperature/Fever (e.g., <100.4°F or <38°C). An audible alarm may also sound.

Memory Function

The thermometer automatically saves the last 32 measurement results. To recall past readings, refer to the detailed instructions in the full user manual provided with the product.

Maintenance

Cleaning the Thermometer

To ensure accurate readings and hygiene, regularly clean the thermometer. Use a soft cloth lightly dampened with alcohol (70% isopropyl) to wipe the device, especially the sensor lens. Do not immerse the thermometer in water or use abrasive cleaners.

Storage

Store the thermometer in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Remove batteries if the device will not be used for an extended period.
