5. Cleaning and Maintenance
Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your espresso machine.
- Daily Cleaning: After each use, unplug the machine and allow it to cool. Remove and empty the filter holder and drip tray. Wash these parts, along with the filters and cup, with warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
- Exterior Cleaning: Wipe the exterior of the machine with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scourers.
- Descaling: Over time, mineral deposits can build up in the machine. Descale your machine every 2-3 months, or more frequently if you have hard water. Use a commercial descaling solution suitable for coffee machines, following the product's instructions. Alternatively, you can use a solution of white vinegar and water (1 part vinegar to 2 parts water). Run the descaling solution through the machine as if brewing coffee, then run several cycles of plain water to rinse thoroughly.
- Storage: When not in use for an extended period, ensure the machine is clean and dry. Store it in a cool, dry place.
