1. Introduction

The TFA Dostmann KLIMA MONITOR is a wireless thermo-hygrometer designed to monitor indoor and outdoor climate conditions. This device provides accurate measurements of temperature and humidity, helping you maintain optimal comfort levels in your home, basement, or garage. It includes a main base station and three remote wireless sensors for comprehensive monitoring.

2. Setup

2.1 Unpacking and Components

Carefully unpack all components and ensure the following items are present:

• 1 x Base Station (Main Display Unit)
• 3 x Wireless Thermo-Hygro Transmitters (Remote Sensors)
• 1 x Instruction Manual

2.2 Battery Installation

Batteries are required for both the base station and the remote sensors. Ensure correct polarity when inserting batteries.

1. For the Base Station: Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the main unit. Insert two (2) 1.5 V AA batteries. Close the cover securely.
2. For each Remote Sensor: Open the battery compartment cover on the back of each sensor. Insert two (2) 1.5 V AAA batteries into each sensor. Close the covers securely, ensuring the gasket is properly seated for weather resistance if placed outdoors.

2.3 Sensor Placement

Optimal placement of the remote sensors is crucial for accurate readings.

• Indoor Sensors: Place sensors in rooms where you want to monitor temperature and humidity, such as bedrooms, living areas, or basements. Avoid direct sunlight or proximity to heat sources (e.g., radiators, appliances) or drafts.
• Outdoor Sensor: If placing a sensor outdoors, choose a shaded, protected location away from direct rain and sunlight to ensure accurate temperature and humidity readings.

2.4 Initial Synchronization

After inserting batteries, the base station will automatically search for the remote sensors. This process may take a few minutes. Ensure all sensors are within range of the base station during initial setup.

• The base station will display the indoor temperature and humidity, along with readings from the three connected remote sensors (labeled 1, 2, 3).
• If a sensor signal is not received, refer to the Troubleshooting section.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Display Overview

The main display unit shows current temperature and humidity for the indoor environment (labeled 'IN') and for each of the three remote sensors (labeled '1', '2', '3').

3.2 MIN/MAX Values

The device records the minimum and maximum temperature and humidity values for each channel since the last reset.

• Press the MIN/MAX button once to view the maximum recorded values.
• Press the MIN/MAX button a second time to view the minimum recorded values.
• To reset the MIN/MAX values, press and hold the MIN/MAX button for a few seconds while the MIN or MAX values are displayed.

3.3 Alarm Function

You can set high and low alarm limits for temperature and humidity for any of the channels.

• Press the ALARM button to enter alarm setting mode.
• Use the + and - buttons to adjust the desired high or low temperature/humidity limits.
• Press SET to confirm each setting and move to the next.
• When an alarm condition is met, a warning signal will sound.

3.4 Channel Selection

The base station can display readings from individual sensors or cycle through them.

• Press the CHANNEL button to manually switch between displaying data from sensor 1, 2, or 3.
• Press and hold the CHANNEL button to activate automatic cycling through all connected sensor channels.

3.5 Comfort Zone Indicator

A smiley icon on the display indicates the current comfort level based on indoor temperature and humidity:

• Happy Face: Optimal comfort (e.g., 18-22°C and 40-60% humidity).
• Neutral Face: Acceptable conditions, but not optimal.
• Sad Face: Uncomfortable conditions (too dry, too humid, too hot, or too cold).

4. Maintenance

4.1 Cleaning

To clean the device, use a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these may damage the display or casing. Ensure no moisture enters the device.

4.2 Battery Replacement

Replace batteries when the low battery indicator appears on the display. Follow the battery installation steps in Section 2.2. Dispose of old batteries responsibly according to local regulations.

5. Troubleshooting

5.1 No Sensor Signal

If the base station does not receive a signal from a remote sensor (display shows "--.-" or similar):

• Check Batteries: Ensure batteries in both the base station and the remote sensor are correctly installed and not depleted. Replace if necessary.
• Proximity: Move the remote sensor closer to the base station to rule out range issues.
• Interference: Avoid placing the devices near sources of electromagnetic interference (e.g., TVs, computers, microwaves).
• Resynchronize: Remove batteries from both the base station and the problematic sensor. Wait a few minutes, then reinsert batteries into the sensor first, followed by the base station. This will force a new synchronization attempt.

5.2 Inaccurate Readings

If readings appear incorrect:

• Sensor Placement: Ensure sensors are not exposed to direct sunlight, strong drafts, or extreme heat/cold sources.
• Ventilation: Ensure the sensor's ventilation openings are not blocked.
• Environmental Factors: Allow sufficient time (e.g., 30 minutes) for the sensors to acclimate to a new environment after placement.

5.3 Display Issues

If the display is blank or flickering:

• Check Batteries: Replace batteries in the base station.
• Reset: Remove all batteries from the base station, wait for 1 minute, then reinsert them.
